Lepryy 54 Posted July 13, 2012 Title says it all. I will be getting it just for this mod essentially. I think I should because of the summer sale.
WhiteTigerShiro 25 Posted July 13, 2012 That depends on your tolerance for bugs. Day Z is in Alpha testing right now, which means new things getting added and bugginess aplenty. It's also worth mention that getting the game running takes a bit of doing the first time around (once you figure it out it's easy, though). Over-all it's a great game, just very unpolished since it's very far from being complete.
Caviano 287 Posted July 13, 2012 "Hmm, should I buy a game... let me go onto the forums OF THAT COMMUNITIES GAME, and ask whether or not I should buy a game... on the site where everyone congregates to talk ABOUT that said game, and SUPPORT that said game."Sounds like a smart idea to be enticed into a game you may hate.Next time you decide to ask for someone's opinion, I would suggest posting somewhere where you would get an unbiased one. Lol.Not to mention, USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION. So many threads with almost identical titles.
BobDole (DayZ) 129 Posted July 13, 2012 i heard in september its going to be a stand alone and will probably have to buy it again but yes its worth it to buy it right now. i havnt gone 1 day with out playing it for hours since i got it.
Lepryy 54 Posted July 13, 2012 Yeah, I have a very high tolerance for bugs. I was in a lot of Alphas and beta for multiple games. Idk, I've been watching a lot of gameplay lately and it looks like real life. Screw it, imma buy it.

But I'm not a member of many forums except The BF3 USA one, which was recently shut down :(. Shoulda went to reddit r/gaming first probably.

Lol.Just because you're unable to offer an unbiased opinion doesn't mean an entire fanbase is unable to. I've asked for opinions on a game on its own forum plenty of times to "so so" replies, and objectively made points on why I might or might not like it. BTT` 15 Posted July 13, 2012 270hrs playing DayZ.....0hrs playing ArmAII and 0 hrs playing Operation Arrowhead. Worth every penny! And I paid $29.99 for the combo which is on sale on steam for $23.99. I know I am supposed to be "testing" but I can't help but play the shit out if it because it is so enjoyable! A part of why Rocket put the alpha to public testing was to see how the servers would handle the load.
Lepryy 54 Posted July 13, 2012 I have to admit if it did go to standalone I wouldn't be a happy gamer at all. Would hate to have to pay for the same thing over again...

Right now you're paying for alpha access. Besides, it's possible the game will be free to play. Or at least, Rocket has expressed an interest in it.

thefreindlyoldman 47 Posted July 13, 2012 Getting it for DayZ is really good but it also has a very good core multiplayer and awsome game types like Takistan Life: Revolution

If it does turn out that way, I hope it isn't gonna be "Free to Play, Pay to Win" like most F2P games are..
orb917@hotmail.com 117 Posted July 13, 2012 only if you fully understand exactly what day z is, is supposed to be, and where it's going according to the developer. be aware that making you feel frustrated is one of the design goals. caveat emptor.

A part of why Rocket put the alpha to public testing was to see how the servers would handle the load.Oh I know I am not doing anything wrong. I would rather play something made for players by players then some game that was tested for lack of a better term "in a lab" That is the problem with things today. They don't get enough real world beat the shit out of use before being produced for sale. Sorry I am kinda merging my thoughts of this thread and the other thread talking about being testers vs players.
Lepryy 54 Posted July 13, 2012 You didn't payed anything for DayZ. You just bought Arma 2 and its expansion. No, I really don't give a crap about actual Arma II, at least for now. I might mess around with the actual game and see if I like it. What is OP: Arrowhead all about anyways? is it even good?
SystemiK 366 Posted July 13, 2012 No. You should not buy Arma 2.
Dingus (DayZ) 429 Posted July 13, 2012 If it doesn't bother you to drop $30 on an alpha test, then go for it.I would advise you to enjoy the main game of Arma 2 however.
Albatros (DayZ) 40 Posted July 13, 2012 I say no.Don't buy ARMA2.Go do whatever it was before you wanted to play DayZ.
LastManOnEarth 14 Posted July 13, 2012 I say buy it if you really want it, but just know that almost every single patch lately (even the ones they say they tested like crazy--like the mess that is 1.7.2 right now) breaks the game, and hotfixes are then trickled out over the next week or so before things get back to playable and settled again. As I said, personally, I think the patches are a mess of late and it's quite diseheartening that they keep wrecking everything just about every time now (because alpha), but oh well.If you can roll with that and don't mind not being able to solidly play for a few days (at least) whenever a new update comes out now, then yeah, you're good to go. Welcome to being a DayZ alpha tester.
SG-17 19 Posted July 13, 2012 Combined Operations (which is what you need) is currently 20% off on Steam (23.99 instead of 29.99), but I would wait until it has a daily deal, if it does. So don't buy it until the last day of the Summer Sale (July 22nd) if it doesn't have a daily deal before.
jovial 17 Posted July 13, 2012 Its an alpha. Go figure. But there is a reason ARMA 2 sales have skyrocketed. And its not a sudden urge to enjoy the core game. Nothing bad about it though. The core game and campaigns is something I will most likely play at some point, because I like coop shooters, and I've kinda gotten used to the quirkyness of the game through DayZ. But this is if, and its a big if, I can stop playing the crap out of DayZ. :)And if GW2 wasn't releasing soon and set to consume my life temporarily. And if DayZ didn't port over to the GODDAMN AWESOME LOOKING ENGINE of ARMA 3 and I didn't actually rejoice over that fact and the fact that I will buy that and probably just put "play ARMA 3 core campaign" above "play ARMA 2 core campaign" at that point. But you know, any time in between those things (oh yeah, add Path of Exile to that list), and I'm gonna enjoy me some core ARMA 2 action. :D Its not looking too good is it? That's cool. Still worth my 24.99 just for DayZ.
