Zeshio (DayZ) 5 Posted July 12, 2012 Hello everyone!I'm currently working on a page on the Day Z wiki and I stumbled across something interesting when I was playing the other day. I was up in Stary Sobor, and I noticed there were oil drums that could be lit on fire right outside of the military tents. I also made the awesome discovery I could cook raw meat on them when lit, which was awesome since I didn't have matches at the time.My question is this: Have you seen Oil Barrels in other locations such as other military installations? I was also wondering if anyone could confirm that they increase your body temperature like fireplaces do.If you have spotted these fabled Oil Barrels, I'm looking for locations, maybe a screenshot of one, or some of the uses you've noticed from them (Like body temp).Thanks and happy hunting!Zeshio Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Redshift 58 Posted July 12, 2012 I have this almost pathological desire to shoot these barrels when I see them. Because.... well barrels always blow up when you shoot them right? Zeshio (DayZ) 5 Posted July 12, 2012 @Redshift, I agree, I also have tried shooting the gas tanks for fueling vehicles with no luck. Exploding gas would be a pretty scary weapon!@Dynama, When I cooked meat on them the first time, it was a little finicky. You need to be close to the barrel and highlight the top rim. klesh 2423 Posted October 28, 2012 There are a few at the military tents in Berezino as well. 3 I think. You can light them without matches the same way you can light a regular woodpile without matches. You need the matches to build the woodpile, not light it. It's the same scroll wheel action. Sutinen 635 Posted October 28, 2012 (edited) Construction sites always have one in the middle room, one in the back of the hotel at Cherno, one near the fire station at Cherno, one near the supermarket at Cherno... I spend a lot of time looting Cherno :DIt's good to know these, I got shot by an AKM one time and I happened to find a cow after that (I didn't have matches), so I went to a construction site and cooked the meat up.
