Headshots Required To Kill Zeds

Headshot required to kill Zeds/Infected

  1. 1. In order to kill a Zed/Infected you must get a headshot. (When pathing/zig zag gets fixed)

I vote yes for this Headshot only Kills

Shots that do not hit the Head should damage the zombie though, thus slowing them down.

Leg Shots turn the Walker zombies into crawlers.

Any hit on a Hopper other than Headshot would turn them into Crawlers.

Chest / Stomach / Center mass body shots can turn the Walkers into Crawlers or Hoppers depending on where you hit them, how many shots, and the caliber of the bullet. (Basically based off of damage).

Voted no for now, but I would be interested in further developing the mechanics once the pathing, walking through walls etc. of the zombies has been fixed.

Ultimately it is Rocket's decision and it is too early to say either way.

Zombies walking in buildings isn't intended though iirc?

If it is, strong yes when pathing is fixed.

If it isn't, weak yes, because it would still be cool. In practice it wouldn't have to be so painful. A legshot followed by a headshot would probably be a safe and effective way to deal with them then.

Edit : Actually I will say no, because pathing isn't the only issue. Zombies are incredibly glitchy in general, warping, unpredictable, and I'm not sure this will ever be different in ARMA 2. I don't fancy having to shoot them twice if they are intended to run everywhere.

Still yes if walking in buildings is intended though. :)

You do realize that the poll specifically said "After pathing is fixed", right? ;P

Walking in buildings is not intended. I don't know the specifics of it, but it's a glitch with the engine or something. In any case, the zeds will eventually move at full speed inside buildings.

This thread is quite useless considering how it doesn't fly with the design philosophy of this anti-game. Rocket is not interested in the magical zombies seen in most other media, but more the infected human type seen in 28 Days Later.

I think the idea could work as long as we modify it to fit the infected type. Like someone mentioned earlier about PCP, the infection could possibly give the host some kind of superhuman characteristic.

Certainly not immortality though. I think rocket said in an interview that he wasn't very fond of paranormal phenomena in some games.

Like I said in reply to another quote

If everyone is concerned about the authenticity of the infected lore then make it so the virus/infection they have also makes them regenerate their organs from a mutation within the brain from the virus/infection.

at least, until zombies are much improved as far as AI animations and path finding are concerned.

With that avatar I thought for sure you would have said yes.

from another thread-

Posted Today, 11:12 PM

Slower zeds, more of them, only die when the brain is destroyed. That would make this game flawless imo. Ever since I was a kid I have dreamed of the day that a game like DayZ would exist, so I could pretend I'm in the Romero Apocalypse. This is that game, with only one major flaw (my (probably wrong) opinion only, don't get heated). Anyways, I love and will play the shit out of DayZ until another game comes out that does it better. Given the tragic course our beloved industry seems to be taking, that's a day that may never come.

Rocket makes me laugh, claims for ultra realism and yet allows server hoppers, near instant DC's, random spawning of zombies when below 100m away which breaks immersion and makes me feel like this is not a sandbox world, no body armour/helmet item, stupidly common 1 shot kill weapons and lack of decent melee ones, no rusty pistol etc.

In a 0 player server, survival is stupidly easy, zombies, hunger, thirst and the elements are not a threat at all. The only thing I ever die from are bullets out of no where from the sniper rifles when looting high risk areas.

Even if they are human it would take multiple shots to take them down with their rage induced no pain state.

No one liked my idea eh?

If you read the initial post on thread I already stated that with this.

You could make them crawl or go slower by shooting them in the leg or but only truly kill them with a shot to the head.

Well I was being a little bit more specific on things but yea sure.

Looking back I can see where you are coming from.

You put the idea to make the sprinters to hoppers to crawlers if shot in the correct places. I would go put that in the suggestion part as it could actually become a good mechanic if put in.

they should have simmilar blood to humans (maybe 8k?) and less speed/erratic behaviour.

I wish he would be fond. Imagination and the just kinda forgetting about realism while playing games is what makes them great. I don't liek to nitpick at everything while playing a game. If it is fun I really don't care.

I mean who in Call of Duty: Nazi Zombie mode will say "why do they get stronger it doesn't make sense!"
