Daggo (DayZ) 0 Posted July 9, 2012 I have literally everything I want, As50, tons of ammo, gps rangefinder (no NVG yet), so now I'm not playing as much because I don't want to lose it. So I've decided to just hit the respawn button once I finish downloading the new update. My question is, am I alone here? Has anyone else fallen under this predicament? albinorhino 174 Posted July 9, 2012 Right before the servers went down I was rocking around with an M4 (best weapon I've found so far) and an M1911 with five mags for it. An inventory full of all the survival tools I would need including night vision goggles and a range finder. An alice pack full of medical supplies and was relatively healthy at 9.6k blood and was outside of the NW airfield. Then I checked my youtube and saw that people had actually LIKED my Tusken Raiders troll video at Balota airfield. So I hit respawn to go back there and appease my fans. rallye 89 Posted July 9, 2012 I used to be attached to my gear, then while drunk I lost a full kit of top tier hitting the respawn button by accident. Best thing I ever did since I started this.
albinorhino 174 Posted July 9, 2012 Logged into a server and found I was still alive with all of my stuff yet was down to 3k blood from bleeding as the servers went down.I still hit respawn :)

Stonedknight 26 Posted July 9, 2012 Had everything. Rangefinders NVG's m107 the whole shebang. After 1 day i asked myself what the hell i was doin. Why do i have all of this Military Gear? Its a Zombie Survival game first and foremost for me. And high tier military gear does not belong there for me. So i hit respawn. Best decision i ever made. Bottlerocket 205 Posted July 9, 2012 Was in this position when the 'hatchets are now weapons' and 'start with nothing' update rolled round.I had a sniper rifle, all camping supplies, lots of food and drink, m1911, plenty of ammo and 200+ zed kills. Hit respawn and never looked back. Starting out is where the fun is, tbh.
Blown4Six 48 Posted July 9, 2012 You're not missing much. The M249 sucks, it's weak.
ParaB 114 Posted July 9, 2012 You're not alone.I remember the very 1st time I finally got top tier equipment. Barely logged in any more without buddies on TS. Went into full paranoia mode. Still got killed anyhow one day and after some raging and pondering the idea of never starting up this stupid game again I realized that it actually wasn't so bad after all. In a way, it's liberating. After 2+ months of playing (and numerous deaths) I now take more and more risks the longer I play and I actually enjoy starting over with nothing. And of course when you know what you're doing it's not that hard to get decent equipment in quite a short time. albinorhino 174 Posted July 9, 2012 Starting new is what makes this game exciting for me. So what if your fully decked out in top grade military gear? Must be pretty lonely camping the NW airfield for kills.Me? I like to strike off into the unknown with nothing but a sidearm, a Lee Enfield and a flask of water. See where shit takes me.That or I can engage a 4 man squad of cheaters walking down the road like a bunch of ducks. Gear means nothing, ESPECIALLY when your fully decked out squad gets taken out by a lone FPS noob with a revolver....

kozzy420 39 Posted July 9, 2012 You are not alone! I have pressed respawn many times when I have great gear. Its actually alot of fun to start over again to me now.Hell, last night I let some zombies kill me in the middle of this main road up north with most of the best things in the game. I do hope someone got a nice pressent though and found those (:

wolfstriked 143 Posted July 9, 2012 OMG this posts shows in full what we are trying to achieve with the harsher world idea post. Its all about the struggle. If they made it so that its super rare to find any military weapon and when found you usually drop it somewhere after expending its ammo, then having to find a new weapon, would you still respawn?Same with limited use matches etc.

Deadman (DayZ) 0 Posted July 9, 2012 The first time i had Some decent gear i felt the same. Was scared to login cause i didnt wanna loose it.Rly strange feeling :)After a few debug forest and relog deaths, i dont mind dying anymore, i just pause for one day, thinking, tomoorow will be better dayz :)
Double_Back 36 Posted July 9, 2012 Yep, it's the Loot Paradox.Scratch and claw your way to top tier loot and then become too paranoid to actually risk using it. (As a loner that is). Group members can die and scamper right back to their tents, vehicles, and/or buddies holding some gear for them; maybe even their old gear they salvaged from their bodies. On my last life, I was almost geared up to everything I wanted: NVGs, ghillie, etc. I'd become so paranoid and fixed into a routine, it started to become almost a chore to scavange since the odds of me finding any gear I could use outside of crashed heli's was extremely remote. I finally died in what I thought was a 1 v 2 at the NW Airfield. It was, in actuality, a 1 v 3. I got two of them...Anyway, it was the most liberating experience so far in DayZ for me and I was suddenly having fun again desperately looking for a Winny or a can of beans instead of being disappointed to find "yet another" M4 or 1017. Definitely made me not care anymore (too much!) about getting killed. All your gear is on loan from the DayZ gods. Eventually, they'll get it back. Accept that and you'll have a lot more fun. z-layrex 175 Posted July 9, 2012 It's inevitable really to get attached to stuff you worked hard to find. You can't really enjoy the game until you let go of the fear.
