Don't know why dayz became a slowe paced pvp shooter? I'll tell you.

THERE IS NOTHING TO FUCKING DO IN THIS GAME EXCEPT KILLING PLAYERS.

You've collected the top gear and....nothing. You have nothing to do.

"omg man u can repair a car and ride it!!!!11" - For what? For what do i need a car? To ride? JUST TO RIDE? FOR WHAT? Search for beans?

One questions for those who like "oh this game lost atmosphere everyone is just shooting each other". So..WHY DO U SEARCH FOR TOP WEAPONS THEN? Why? ALL u need to survive in this game is water and beans. NOTHING MORE. You can have a pistole though to protect urself from some zombies. But still u can just run away from them without shooting.

This game can become something interesting if only there is a content for people who have all the top loot. Now they have nothing to do so they shoot.

I wouldn't say it as extreme as you have put it but once you have found a hatchet, water bottle, box of matches and hunting knife you have completed the "survival stage" against zombies.

The rest of the survival only really applies on highly populated servers, its so easy to last an entire day without seeing another play whilst running even the NWA if you play low population.

Some people enjoy the rush of surviving against aggressive players + zombies but I agree once you have got to the point you are "surviving" the only really progressive stage from there on is to hunt other players... at least that is what I am doing now and it adds another swing on things.

IRL Zombie Apocalypse I run out guns ablaze saying, "COME AT ME BRO!" Seems legit.

A normal person, realizing they have exhausted the games content, would just stop playing the game. Instead, the ADD afflicted among us decide it's time to start killing other players. Not as a way to increase their survivability but simply as a means to kill time because they're "bored".

Do us all a favor and quit playing until more content is added. And when you've exhausted that, quit again.

You have a point (no, not you 'LordOpeth'). When I started out I was completely peaceful towards other players and would only shoot in self defence, but lately I have found myself gravitating towards hotspots without necessarily having a need for beans and soda. It's not that I'm bored, but when you play solo it can sometimes be easier to pick that gps off of someones lukewarm corpse than to find it yourself.

Rocket has been talking a good deal about adding new base building stuff, maybe that is intended to be some sort of endgame?

There are other options. You can try to change the dynamics of the game by changing the way players experience it. Like being a medic, taxi driver, guide, etc. PM me if you are bored and want something more out of DayZ. We have something (big) in the works, and I hope it will have a pretty significant impact on things (for better or worse).

I'd really like to be a part of what you listed, but there are just too many problems that go along with it, namely that people will just shoot you in the face instead of accepting your help. Nobody really needs any help getting to places or surviving, so the only value of another person is in their equipment, and there's no ability now to tell who would have good intentions and who wouldn't, so the logical choice would be to kill anyone who's offering help, because if it's a trap, you just saved your life, if it isn't, then you just got some free equipment. That, in addition to the paranoia of becoming a target yourself cause a knee-jerk reaction of shoot first and ask questions later.

Lol, you want all the pvp'ers to stop playing the game because you're butthurt about getting killed by them. The next time I'm about to shoot another player I'll be sure to have a change of heart, don't want to catch that ADHD, you know!

Here's a protip: military sniper rifles, thermal scopes, and heavy machine guns were not placed in this game to shoot zombies. If you don't want to get shot, play a game where players don't have those kind of weapons.

Nothing in this world worth having comes easy.

Nobody really needs any help getting to places or surviving

This has to be one of the sillilest things I've read on the forum this week. Kudos for that.

To your point, there have been 11.4MM survival attempts, and only 370,438 players are alive at the moment.

This means 11,029,562 players have died and only 1,703,098 of those deaths were from murder. The average survival time remains below an hour.

So clearly some people out there could use a fucking hand, don't you think?

so the only value of another person is in their equipment

Oh, come on. Now you're just trying to make my list of silliest statements.

There are many varied benefits to having living survivors near you whom you can count on in a pinch.

and there's no ability now to tell who would have good intentions and who wouldn't

Now we're getting somewhere. This is a problem we can actually solve.

Go check out and potentially show your support for this idea. Or this one.

Both would give players a means to identify other players in the game and, assuming they witness acts of atrocity, assign them appropriate categories based on observed behavior.

Its possible, I mean look at minecraft, you can easily go through all the content. But the difference between Dayz and minecraft is that in minecraft you can make things and change the world around you.

No one said it'd be easy to change the world ;)

But we have need for more than just medics. You can help out without ever having to interact with random survivors. Hell, we even need people who are willing/able to kill other players. Society needs more than just medics.

Are you using Minecraft as an example of how you can 'exhaust the content' in a sandbox game, and in the same sentence declare that the content in Minecraft cannot be exhausted? How does that work?

"It's just like minecraft! Except that minecraft is different..."

Well the obvious response to this is: what constitutes a survival attempt? Or rather, how many people actually try to survive?

Does someone who just spawns on the coast, runs into Cherno to grab a rifle and enlist in the south coast bean wars until they perish count? Statistically I would say most likely, but I really wouldn't consider that a survival attempt. I'm of the opinion that survival in Day Z is currently way too easy, and maybe that's a minority opinion, but the current survival system is at the very least something worth looking into.

There are many varied benefits to having living survivors near you whom you can count on in a pinch.

I was speaking moreso about strangers in-game' date=' rather than people you've met outside. It would be foolish to acknowledge that there weren't benefits to having people on your side, but to meet someone in-game presents a much greater risk than reward.

Now we're getting somewhere. This is a problem we can actually solve.

I'm pretty much with you 100% on that, except for one thing. I think identity should persist after character death. Right now life expectancy hovers not too far above half an hour, and you can expect that figure to hold true if you want to be of the helpful variety, so with identity completely resetting after death, I think the system would be too subtle, and identity to ephemeral to really make an impact.

My reasons for supporting memory wipe on death are quite strong. Post in that thread and we can discuss it there. ;)

I can't, but it seems there is a large portion of the player base that can. Count the number of threads about "what do I do now?" "we need end-game content" etc. etc.

Not butt-hurt. Have only been killed by another player once. Have never killed another player.

I don't want PvP'ers to stop playing and I don't want PvP removed from the game. What I want is people to use PvP as a tool in the context of the game and not as an outlet for their own boredom and lack of imagination.

I'm not even sure what to say to something like that. It's almost like being a hipster or something in DayZ. If a sniper shoots me I'll say "shit!" and then respawn to start over. I'm not going to be thinking "Ugh, that guy shooting me is such a testimony to his lack of creativity! Art is dead!"

Seriously makes me laugh.
