It's good to talk

Recommended Posts

Hi guys just a quick one, which buttons do what on dayz with regards to chatting or messaging?. I just seem to type to myself and have never heard anyone over the mic. Just a quick refresher on what buttons do what for chat/messaging would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Well seeing as yo stated it, yes you are a dick, why even bother responding to my thread like that? Is it helpful? Insightful? Or just obstructive? Why not just a simple "press x key to talk etc..."

More dipshits on here than I first imagined

Use Press / to open chat box and < > to change channels.

Use direct chat to talk to people (Have to be with in 40 meters) or you can text them (Not sure about the distance for that).

The above poster is right though, you can look in your options to see the control settings and see what does what...

Yes, it is helpfull to point out that you can open up your controls and check it out for yourself.

Adding to this, we *are* willing to help you, as you may have noticed.

Back on topic: be advised that there is no 'global' or 'side' chat in the game, only 'direct' chat as Drewmanc pointed out. I advise you to go into your controls and setup a key to 'speak on direct channel'. It isn't binded by default. That way you'll always have the correct key to speak on your direct channel.

I wish you the best.

You might actually want to check the control options as Mr. Dick suggested to assign a key for the direct channel only.

People have different keyboard configurations, for me its RightAlt for direct voice comm, so actually it really is best to check your keyboard config. I think Default was CAPSLOCK.

Calling someone that basically gave you an answer to your question a dipshit just because you are too lazy to look it up really isn't beneficial.

If you have a european keyboard its the "-" Button and you change channels with "." and "," even if you can cycle through the channels with just one button. Oh, and a quick tip: Before you use Ingame VOIP (Capslock by default) select direct communication so the whole map does not hear you.
