Playing without beta patch?

Recommended Posts

So yeah, one of my squad buddies was talking bout the beta patch, so my question is, what does the beta patch do? I've not been having any issues with the game thus far, was hoping for some performance boost maybe.

P.S. I have the steam version

The beta patch fixes a ton of bugs, plus, any server past 1.7.1 (or 1.7.2?) requires you to have a Beta Patch installed to play.

is it possible the steam auto patched with the so called "beta" patch - I'm not even sure why it's called a beta patch to be honest, but I guess I have it since I've been playing fine :s

Also, where do you get the patch?

(Currently there seems to be a problem with the site).

No, you cannot set Steam to auto-update it, you have to manually download a new Beta patch every couple of days.

Also, you have to overwrite the original .exe with the one in Expansions -> Beta (If you're planning on running the game through Steam) and add the following line to the Launch Options:

-beta=Expansion\beta;ca;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -mod=@DayZ;ca

Updated servers, the ones running the 1.7.5 DayZ script, will kick you out automatically if you're trying to log in without it.

I've been in plenty 1.7.1.5 servers and have not been kicked from a single one yet :o this is really weird indeed
