DayZ - Great when it's good, but...

Recommended Posts

Fucking shit when it's not.

It's come to the point where I've just gotta vent my anger, and at least here I'll have the possibility of receiving sympathy...maybe, seeing as it is the internet afterall.

Ever get those really fucking bad strings of luck, where everything goes wrong, life after life? Well, that's what I'm currently having... A really poor string of luck with glitches, bandits and the whole lot.

Firstly, lost all my hard earned gear by logging in while bleeding, despite being 100% sure I wasn't bleeding when I logged off previously, then when I was attempting to make my way back to the NW airfields I had a zed insta-gib me with bleeding and fractured legs off the first strike, then had some sniper lay me out within 30 seconds of spawning and various tedious glitches and problems which lead to 5 deaths within the hour. 4 of which were unnatural, which is my pet peeve with this game atm.

Also, before anyone starts with the 'get good' banter and the like, let it be known that I've had my fair share of awesome loot, banditry and hoarding vehicles/weapons etc and just felt like venting.

Anyone else feel like bitching about anything? I'll read it and sympathize with you, because I know that feel bro.

TL;DR A cool story bro.

Get good. Cool story bro.

Seriously, I understand the frustration. That is part of the experience right now, rightly or wrongly. I had been alive for 2+ weeks, had great gear, and lost it all due to a "kill-all" command being used on the server I was in.

If it bothers you that much, take a few days off from playing and then go back to it fresh.

Have you even bothered to report those 4 unnatural deaths in the bugs section instead of wasting your and our time here whining?

Some people still believe that the goal of DayZ is gathering the awesomnest loot and surviving for as long as possible. They're wrong. The goal of DayZ is to die in the most unfair, punishing and surprising way possible.

Once you accept that you'll find inner peace.

I feel the same way. The game is great, but the bugs are horrendous. I just "fell" 3 meters down when the terrain suddenly dipped to a 80% hill. No big deal, maybe I bleed or maybe I break a bone, I have medical supplies. Nope. I get stuck in a fucking tree and lose 22,000 blood.

Yes I know, I should have looked where I stepped. But that's just fucking ridiculous, in real life you'd have taken a tumble and maybe broken a bone or two. Not get compressed between the tree and the ground like a fucking car crusher.

I love the game so much that even a few hours off and I'm keen for another go after something poor happens. Even between this post and my first post I managed to trade death for death with a bandit at the Balota airstrip with a hatchet when he appeared to have a .50 cal on his back and an m1911, spawned back at the airstrip *fuckyeah time to loot all the goodies* get half way back to the scene of the crime and bam, server down. WHAT.

Ah just remember it happens to us all. It's an Alpha and we're just testing it.

Everyone has died through some combination of wierd luck, bad gameplay, evil bandits, super zombies, man-eating stairs, paper-thin walls, unexpected glitches, homicidal trees, high-velocity rounds, short drops, killer bunnies, 'magic bullets', traffic accidents, bad karma, unjust hax, femme fatales, apache gunships, nuclear strikes, barbed wire, starvation, infection, dehydration or just random, unexplained deaths.

I myself ran into a barn, heard footsteps, saw a zombie come in, shot it - and was then headshot by the survivor hiding above me who's footsteps I'd actually heard. The only certainty in DayZ is a series of messy, violent deaths.

I fell out of the warehouse in Cherno... two stories. I did not survive. The timing was awful.

I know that feel, bro. I remind myself it's Alpha and that it's nothing to get worked up over.

I feel your pain. More often then not I've been killed by a Zed warping right on top of me while laying motionless and prone. Also killed by players sniping. The more cool stuff I get the more stressful the game gets so I'm kind of relieved in a strange way after dying. Starting new having nothing to lose seems to take the edge off.

All the same I would like a PVE option or at least known PVP zones. The game seemed to become a large scale death match with Zombies being nothing but an obstacle and not the main theme. Should rename the mod to DayPVP with a bunch of assholes. =)

At least when you see the killer you know how you die. It drives me nuts when I look at a tree and bam insta-kill. Those deaths make me want to punch my computer.
