Parazight 1599 Posted December 20, 2022 Shut down all official servers, imo. Battleye was contracted as the anti-cheat provider. It’s clear that it doesn’t work. BI is also not willing to make changes. Ergo, the only viable solution to eliminate cheating is to eliminate the servers.

After 9 years, ban waves, and all kinds of crap, nothing has really stopped it. Active server admins on community servers have been constantly fighting the battle to keep their servers clean. ESP cheats are the worst cheats for this type of game and they are literally everywhere and damn near not detectable unless you are taking time to watch players remotely.

To me, the interesting part is wondering if the game would have been more successful (sold many more copies) if some sort of sponsored servers/events were planned from the beginning. Look at how they designed the code. They designed it for unmonitored official servers. A game 'built for modders' would naturally assume custom servers, owned by the community, and with active admin. ON PC. No need to implement security measures in the game code because admins would take care of issues. But no. The code was built for unmonitored official servers. That's why cars are server side. That's why we have BattleEye as a integral part of the blame circle. Just imagine if they had found a way to have had someone administrate their servers. Like, three people. I wonder how many more copies would have been sold. Would've hiring server admins been cost effective? Surely, just firing up a server and setting it afloat is a recipe for disaster. NO ONE can beat the cheaters without active admin. Online criminal behavior is a serious problem worldwide and gaming is only a part of it. It's unreasonable to think BattleEye could ever handle it on their own. Again, the only way to eliminate cheating on these type of fire-and-forget servers is to just shut them down. There are alternatives to official servers, but not alternatives for official servers.
