weedmasta 784 Posted July 6, 2012 Everything outside of the play area - yesEverything inside the play area - noWhat people are currently carrying - absolutely notIt will happen, either when it enters Beta stage or full release or both so don't get too attached to your toys.Other than that I don't see a reason to do it now. Bottlerocket 205 Posted July 6, 2012 I'd be fine with a wipe at every major patch that introduces new items or loot spawn mechanics.Actually I'd be fine with a wipe at every new update' date=' just because we basically all are testing an alpha and the devs may be able to get better statistics how players are playing this mod.[/b']This. evulclown@gmail.com 191 Posted July 6, 2012 No.When the game releases it will be wiped. Until then it's useless, people are restarting all the time -- If you want a spectrum of different level players for testing patches you will not get that by wiping people. What if the next patch adds a bug that makes it so when you turn on night vision goggles you get an extra pair in your BP? Or the server crashes? Forum warriors and PvE care bears are always after a wipe like it will make them better at the game -- "lets level the playing field guys it's so unfair!!". Guess what, you'll be getting sniped again within a day.Not all of the "super leet" gear in the game is from hackers or duping. Clans raided airfields and crash sites / worked together to get vehicles and used those to access more high loot areas and collect better items. It will happen again and you'll be getting shot again as you shuffle around with your torch.Rocket's well aware that this isn't just "any old alpha", the sales figures for Arma II went up by 500% and while he's free to do what he wants, he's not being reckless. That being said, everyone starting over would be a hilarious 10 minute scene. It would be like battle royal with everyone frantically running to buildings with their torches trailing zombies everywhere until someone finds a gun then doubles back to the beach... Once I fell off of deerhunt and died with DMR and NVG. And you know what? I didnt run to the forums crying "PLZ PLZ PLZ RISTOE MAI CHARACTER!!" This is alpha and should be constantly tested and resetted. If you found your gear once, you'll be able to find it the second, third and 1000th time.
ED-E 4 Posted July 6, 2012 You can't just write Yes or No since you need to type at least 5 characters. But since I just did that: No.
Denuth 21 Posted July 6, 2012 Yes, And you can't reply just Yes or No, 5 character minimum.

I've died plenty to bugs as well, spawned in the debug forest or the ocean countless times. Broken my legs on ladders etc. Everyone's going to die eventually. What does that have to do with anything? When something like a wipe happens it has to be of benefit to the construction of the game. Wiping everyone would be detrimental to testing which is why it won't happen until the game releases or goes into beta or something. People demanding a wipe are the carebears that think a wipe will make them less shit at the game -- Here's a tip, it doesn't. They always have to blame something for their short commings as a player and then demand the devs add a ridiculous feature or nerf or wipe into the game that they believe will help them suck less.I've seen it before and if the devs are ever dumb enough to listen to them after a few days they realise nothing changed and it's them that sucks not mr super leet in w/e gear -- Then they go back to being forum warriors and demanding some other ridiculous change. MaximumBullfrog 6 Posted July 6, 2012 Why are people here always so hostile towards players who managed to amass a lot of nicer stuff? It's part of the game, and long term investment is a lot of what makes DayZ unique in what it's trying to do. Personally, I find letting myself find value in my gear adds a lot of tension and excitement to the game wereas without it it's just people grabbing the closest noisy gun and jogging around urban centres. It is survival after all. A beta wipe would be a good idea if it vastly overhauls the game's infrastructure, but if it's defined mostly by just server side security or something then there's no need. I love losing my gear legitimately (shot, mauled to death, etc), just not so much when it's from a packet loss or something.

Anthrax12 46 Posted July 6, 2012 No, Don't need it, Even if you do hacker's will have there item's back 30mins after the wipe so it's point less till we can ban them all.

herd 69 Posted July 6, 2012 Total wipe - I mean delete ALL ITEMS' date=' VECHILES etc. and start all from the beginning on ALL servers.[/quote']During alpha / beta testing it should be every month. After release - every 6 month. Diablo 2 anyone ? Why? - to give other 89% player a chance to find vehicles etc.- to have equal starting chances for all once in a while (groups of snipers with uber gear at NEAF anyone?)- to get rid of all duped / glitched items- for those who are "pro" to show their skills on acquiring the uber loot they had again and again.- to just get rid of monopoly of groups with 10s of vehicles and uber items.- many moreI'd be fine with a wipe at every major patch that introduces new items or loot spawn mechanics.Actually I'd be fine with a wipe at every new update' date=' just because we basically all are testing an alpha and the devs may be able to get better statistics how players are playing this mod.[/quote']oh yea, + this ^^ - so at every major or not so major patch.ps. army_dude_in_luv@hotmail.com 0 Posted July 6, 2012 So basically, you're complaining that YOU haven't got the kit and you want everyone to lose theirs so that you're equal again.I found my M24 and my friend found his M14 after weeks of trying to get a good loot. I'm not going to be losing these just because you're a bit pissy about not being able to find good kit camping for beans on the coast.

Powermolch 3 Posted July 6, 2012 Nope, don't see any reason. There were and are regular wipes. Tent wipes, Database cleanups, vehicle resets. Not to mention the mysterious vanishing tents. And every Char is wiped when death.Don't need any. We'll have more wipes in the future when things change, I'm sure. The reason above "to hear butthurt people cry", is no reason for a wipe, more a reason to visit a psychiatrist.

(correct me if im wrong). But at the same time, nothing stops you from raiding their camp and taking their vehicles either, now does it? And i haven't been playing that long or that much, but i've still seen busses, tractors, lorries, dirt bikes and normal bikes. Aquired both bikes and dirt bikes. Dont go to NEAF or NWAF without adequate gear, or be prepared to fight atleast. Get a friend, one of you loots and one keeps watch. Wouldnt it be easier for them to delete all unwanted items that have been hacked into the game? I know people have hacked apaches and a-10s atleast. And im also neither a pussy, cheater nor hoarder. Ad hominem doesnt award you any points.
