spark plugs ruined while driving

Question

I have been using an Olga on an official Xbox server. Today did a very long drive across the entire map and back. I had to change the spark plug 2 times, and will need to before I use it again as the third is already badly damaged. Both times the car was in motion and stopped dead, it wasnt damaged by a collision or a gunshot. It also wasnt related to ignition, it's as if simply driving the car degrades the spark plug. I have never seen parts degrade this quickly before though (almost 3 parts in an hour). Is this a bug or the new state of spark plugs? Other parts are fine, and the car has no hood (less protection maybe? But again ive never seen this happen before).

Reminds me of a bug ages ago where certain cars would 'leak' petrol, you would fill the tank and drive 5 mins for it to be empty.

You've been redlining the car, don't drive with the revs on red, shift gear. If you keep redlining the spark plug will take damage and eventually the engine itself will be ruined. And yes, it is easy to redline with the cars when trying to go uphill on gravel or forest roads, some of the steepest hills you can only get up with the 4x4 Ada or the M3S truck. The Sarka and Gunter are useless on anything but paved roads.

dunno about the spark plug as i didnt drive in recent game version, never heard of this issue before, but the fast fuel leak is caused by a damaged fuel tank.

Ahhh shit okay, Thankyou. Yeah I end up redlining a lot whilst off road in the olga. I also stay in 1st gear a lot of the time to avoid damage when lag spikes hit arouns towns etc.

Oh right. I didnt know They could get damaged, but that makes sense. I thought it was a bug because I remember reading a post where someone said it was being caused by the car spawning in badly on reset, especially if you take wheels off it. But I see how that could damage the fuel tank.

Do you know if the fuel tank is a repairable part?

The fuel tank can get damaged if somebody shoots at the car or if you hit a low obstacle, such as a rock or some other rubble. Sadly it is not a repairable part, the only solution is to find another vehicle.

For a long time cars have been unstable on server restarts, if they are parked indoors (especially in small, low garages) or near/under some other obstacle they can get bumped around when the server restarts and get damaged or even ruined. This has been improved somewhat over time, but I know for sure that it can still happen. And yes, missing a wheel or more increases the risk of it happening. Safest is to park cars at least a meter or so from anything with collison, and if indoors stick to barns and other buildings with higher ceilings.

Okay sweet, thanks for the info! Yeah I found a gunter ages ago that had this fuel tank issue. I think it was the bad collision spawn, cause we would take wheels off it and store it under a car port. Even saw it spawn in upside down a few times. But i have noticed improvements since then

Right now i have the Olga in one of those double door wooden garage buildings with nothing else in there, seems to be surviving resets without any issues. I think its the largest building in game I would call a 'garage', anything bigger is more of a barn or warehouse, but its not tall enough to fit a canopy or car tent.

Lmao no. Skill issue.

The Olga is the worst offroad. The Gunter is a FWD car with decent weight distribution. I've been using my Sarka to get to my base in Livonia where you must go offroad for maybe 500m and uphill for another 1km. It's easy if you stay in 1st gear and don't go above 35km/h.

Absolutely, epoxy should do it but you should only be able to do it when the tank is empty. It's batshit stupid you can't fix gas tanks. Has nobody at Bohemia watched a Phil Swift or Billy Mays video?

You can now use the repair torch or epoxy to fix fuel tanks in 1.19 as long as the tank is not ruined when looking at component. No red dot. Will repair to worn
