Restore previous energy usage

Bring back the energy usage from last patch and instead make food and animals less common. Increasing it the you did now did nothing to make the game harder since food is still abundant even on populated servers, the only thing you achieved with the last change is force people to take few bites of their food every 20 minutes.

I concur. This change (from 20k calories to 5k) is completely nonsensical. Playing on any server with altered temperature means that you must eat & drink constantly because energy drainage is crazy. Step forward and two steps back = exactly how this update works.

At least 10k would be worth something, but 5k? Crazy...

WOBO released a good video about the change, and now that I know how it works, I agree, the energy consumption change is terrible. Initially, I was excited about the change. But it penalizes you for being more prepared, and in better health consequently. It’s a misguided attempt to indirectly increase illness chance. The whole thing needs to be re-worked.

It is incredibly disappointing to see DayZ get less and less sim, and more arcade-like. Over the last two years, the trend is unmistakable.

I just drank 3.5 FULL canteens while having the 3/4 full white bottle, got full stomach icon after first 1,5 waited 5 minutes while looting around, drank another full canteen, got another full stomach icon, waited again and drank half. It didn't move. It contains 1 litre of water. I drank 3.5 litres of water, while already having almost full hydration. I ran to a nearby town (maybe 5 minutes away) and my hydration level stayed the same. 

What in the actual fuck is this ? Camels don't drink that much and live on a desert. Also there seems to be a intermittent bug where after you eat either the energy doesn't replenish or the arrows that indicate that it is replenishing do not appear because I had two bear stakes yesterday I didn't see any arrows pointing up. Could devs kindly revert the energy to half of what it was previously ? I get what you try to do here but this is just stupid. No one can drink 3.5 litres of water in that short amount of time.

i really dunno what the issue is here. for me energy consumption has improved with 1.15.

no more eating a whole cow in one go without worrying (or carrying) for food for many hours.

before this last patch i NEVER carried any food on me. it was just not needed. just ate instant everything u found. i dunno if that is a good way to go for a game like dayz. its a survival game in the end.

i only eat one piece of food now, once the apple indicator isnt full anymore. u burn more energy with full stats now, so i just slightly go over the full symbol to keep my immunity up.

they just gotta fix that u dont get a health boost while drinking.

I think they need to make dying from dehydration the same as now, but slow down energy loss to make it more authentic to real life where you can die from dehydration quicker than starving.

I like the change to the stomach digestion thingy where you can't just stuff a whole jar of starwberry jam as easily, full stomach should last even longer if you ask me tbh.

The problem is that you have a 3/4 full energy bar. Eat 4 chicken steaks, wait few minutes top it up with a can of beans, you get full bar and 25 minutes later you're back at 3/4. I know things are accelerated for the gameplay purposes but give me a break, once I get two stuffed icons in a row I should at least get an hour or two before I have to eat again. 

Instead of making you burn through your calories so fast or the calorie reserve being so small (whichever it is) the food should be more scarce. So that it's a struggle to find enough food that you are full, but once you do, you can get on with something else. Whereas now there's plenty of food everywhere, and you have to eat all the time.

i dunno, general zed. im travelling alot, with much sprinting. i only carry some pieces of food... steaks or fruits/shrooms... all baked. the apple-symbol goes down to half and i eat one piece (this way u also never get a stuffed stomach). it might only keep me "full" for 20-25 minutes, but i only ate ONE baked pear and was sprinting running around, having fights with infected and carry 20kg of weight on my back.

i agree ofc theres way too much food in the game. the loottable in general needs so much balancing.
