LowGhost2020 2 Posted July 26, 2021 After over a year of playing this game I have officially deleted it. Been grinding loot for 3 days. Haven't seen a soul the entire time. Heard gun shots here and there but have never seen anyone. Jump on a NY Livonia server, got to the military air field. Get chased by some zombies so I climb the radio tower ladder to escape. Get to the top and BAM Get shot by someone camping it. 3 days of loot gone. No call out to see if I'm friendly no discussion at all. It's happened far to many times. I run back to see what was left behind on my corpse and basically nothing. Guy had enough gear to one shot me, must of took everything I had put it in my 90 slot back pack and logged off. Server had 5 people on it when I died and 4 online when I got there. Literally robbed me blind and server hopped. This is by far the most toxic game I have ever played. No one teams up, no one works together, it's all just shoot on site toxic dbags. I'd share loot if I met someone. Why not team up and build bases. There's well known designated pvp areas on both maps. If you're not near one then leave people alone. It's really sad what this community has become. If you're reading this and don't own the game yet then don't bother. In the year and a half I've been playing this game I've met 3 people. One was supper friendly and was looking for bandages but my mic was messing up and he ran with me for a bit and logged off. One I tried to talk to from a window at the police station as he was creeping up trying not to be spotted by zombies and he just ran off no reply and one, the king of all backstabbing dbags, ran together for 5 hours looting . Got tons of gear building up, got caught between towns in the rain and got soaked. We get to the next town, build a fire in the house to dry off and cook some food while we wait for his friend who logged on to meet up with us. I'm thinking cool finally some decent players on this game to play with. Nope, gun shot goes off, the you're dead screen comes up. Guy I've been playing with for hours shoots me so his buddy can have my gear. EVERY SINGLE OTHER PERSON I HAVE COME ACROSS is shoot on site like uts warzone or something. Grind for days build up gear get shot. Grind for days build of gear get shot and on and on it goes. This game is nothing but ... nemorus 265 Posted July 26, 2021 "DayS" is a survival game - it's about staying alive when everything around you wants you dead. It's not about being friendly on a "military air field" - for we call that naive. If you're looking for a buddy in game such as this then private servers are a way to go, with their own discord channels and such. You need to talk to people before you meet them in a game. Build your person and sell it to the public. Otherwise it's a gamble. Unnecessary one. And many people are sore losers. They don't like to die. I had also thought that by talking to others - in game - i could initiate long lasting relations. 5k hours later and that never happened once. Through discord - yes, an entire list of contacts and a clan. You need to have a foundation when you start building big. VOIP is only good for small things and some of the encounters. Chances of building through are slim at best. It's how it is nowdays - more clients involved.
DayzDayzFanboy 1280 Posted July 26, 2021 I'd say fifty fifty friendly hostile in my own experience from day one on xbox. I think you need to appreciate that nothing is forever on dayz. Three day grind? Pfft, I've had characters for months and lost them to all sorts of deaths. That's the game. Calling it toxic is just a salty expression that gets thrown around all too easily in the gaming community when someone's had a bad session. If losing a character after three days grinds your gears that hard, then dayz ain't for you.

nemorus 265 Posted July 26, 2021 It's the usual scenario 😛 Less people there are, the bigger the chance of making contact. I have a buddy that played on a last day right before the wipe of 1.09 - he and some other dude. He likes to travel and make friends on the road - a really nice guy overall. And of course he met the other player, on NWAF. Like i've said, it was the last day, my buddy is as friendly as one can possibly be... He was shot to death pretty much immediately. He only managed to say "Hi!". He was not a challenege, since he was stuck on ladder. The killer gained nothing from it. Nothing at all. Some people don't care. supernick 33 Posted July 27, 2021 you can always look on server list id's player, you can contact them, send a friend request and team up, some ignore you, others can answer no, but few are happy to play with friends
Tonyeh 454 Posted July 27, 2021 The vast majority of DayZ players are dicks. Let's be honest about it, most people will kill you just to kill another player. But there are times when you'll meet people who are cool and sometimes they'll run with you for a while (usually until you or them are dead 😁 ). But if your looking for a game where you find instant buddies, DayZ isn't it. Sure the game is full of, so called, "toxic" people. But it also provides moments that you will never experience in any other game, which is why we play. A few days ago, I was involved in a genuine Mexican stand off. None of us wanted to shoot, but neither did we want to lower our weapons. We all had 9mm's, so we realised that shooting wasn't going to be too smart as it's so weak. In the end we backed off laughing and saying "good luck" to each other, while still pointing our guns. I have never seen that in another game and probably will never see it in DayZ again either. Another mad episode was in a town called Kula on the Esseker map. I noticed a crowd of about 6 low geared players and I rocked up to them, telling them they weren't in any danger from me, I just wanted to see what they were doing. Apparently there was a guy on the roof of a tall building who had amassed a load of gear and was chucking it off of the building to players who asked for a specific item. He said he was going to end it all and was giving away all his loot. He then hopped off the roof and ended up with broken legs, pleading to be killed, and we all ran away laughing our heads off. I think someone ran back and put him out of his misery. Absolute crazy town.
