Toggle switch for VOIP on Xbox

Recommended Posts

I want this to be seen and don't want to post in the xbox section because it's dusty af over there. I was thinking a good way to improve players talking to each other and communicating in-game on Xbox would be to make the down button on the d-pad a toggle talk instead of a push-to-talk button. There could be a setting in the menu to make it a toggle or hold. It would just make it much easier for controller users to keep talking while running or fighting and encourage people to team up in VOIP instead of isolating themselves from interaction through parties, which is what restricts most random player interaction on Xbox.

I've thought it over and I'm starting to think an elite controller or similar is the only way to go with many modern games. This would allow you to VOIP all you want while still running around doing stuff, even during combat. More buttons seems a necessity with many new games coming out anyway, so this seems like a non-issue now.

P.S. the only big issue in the way of VOIP on console is party chats, but I doubt there's much anybody can do about that besides taking the few seconds to switch to game chat, unfortunately.

You don't even need an elite controller. I bought a cheap controller that has two programmable buttons underneath and I just set those to voip
