Server wipes

How often has this game experienced server wipes of characters and property?

I joined the official server to avoid this issue.

I was playing when the patch was pushed down.  The game kicked me.  I did some real world stuff.   When I came back it was almost time for me to go to work.  I logged in to check out the patch and I had a fresh character.  I assumed we had a wipe.  I was a bit disheartened and turned off the xbox. I guess he died somehow.

edit- its possible I was on the other server tab.  when the server list came up empty I remember flipping over to see if anything was there.  I might have forgot to flip it back.  

I'll be home in about 4 hours and I guess I will find out then what happened, if anything, to my bases.

an update for anyone who might have been curious:

For me, the game used to show my character in all his gear when I logged on.   After I selected the server it showed me one more time right before I entered the world.

Now it shows a random fresh spawn.   I am guessing it does this for everyone else as well?

This is why I thought we had the server wipe, or my character somehow died offline.
