dougers123 0 Posted September 8, 2020 Hi All i gave up playing Dayz several years ago, i now have the urge to come back and get that incredible buzz that it was so many years ago, i have read so many good reports about new updates ect. i basically played dayz standalone and day z mod. for me to get back into to the game what's the best downloads i require - i am currently re installing the game - any advise would be great thanks Dougers Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
drgullen 597 Posted September 8, 2020 I would just start with official vanilla servers to get a sense as to what has changed since you last played. 1.09 went to Stable today, so might as well check that out before you start adding any mods. After that though, DayZ Expansion is pretty cool as it adds a variety of things, like modded weapons and flyable helicopters. There's also some great custom maps out there like Deer Isle which is my favorite. With the new patch going Stable, some of the mods may need to be updated first though, which is why I suggest for the next few days at least, stick to non-modded servers. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

It has more military locations and in the south of the map it is mostly forest with very little towns to loot. So basically you have to hunt and fish to stay alive. Most servers do play on Chernarus though. But if you really get hooked on DayZ again and would like a new environment, then I can recommend it. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
