Linkfan 2 Posted August 28, 2020 Hi, new player here. Excluding deaths from freshspawns as a freshspawn, in my 100+ hours i've died legitimately maybe once or twice. All others of my dozens of deaths were blatant hackers. Speeding around at the speed of light falcon punching me ten trillion times in one microsecond screaming foreign languages and killing me, getting shot from nowhere in a windowless house, shooting at a guy with no armor and having him survive and instantly whip around doing a 360 and instantkill me by shooting me in the head with a skorpion from 100 meters, having me and my friends all drop dead at the exact same time while 50-100+ meters away from each other, etc etc. I understand they want this game to be fairly realistic and immersive, and i understand they want to keep the way the game is currently in that if you meet a guy and for no particular reason forget to exchange names or methods of outside contact and then one of you die, that you may never see him again, as if you truly lost another colleague to the apocalypse. But there is currently 0 method of identifying a hacker. I mean, literally just now, as i write this, my brother was murdered by an invincible freshie with a glock standing in the air firing upon him. I play strictly on official servers and there is no way to ban a hacker. We just have to hope that the bi-monthly battleye ban waves get him (they don't.) Until then, we're at his mercy. Better log off the game for the day and hope he ain't there tomorrow. There aren't many, maybe 10 that just hop the official servers. But it's physically impossible for them to meet any repercussions because they are nameless and anonymous. Make it so you can see the username of someone who kills you. It's that simple. It could be steam username, their playstation/xbox username, anything. I see no reason to not have this, the lowered immersion is worth instant non refutable proof of a man hacking. It'd take literally a month tops and every single hacker on official servers is banned. Why not have this? Is there any reason? Thanks. 1
ImpulZ 2491 Posted August 28, 2020 Hi, let me say a couple words on the cheater situation. We are very much aware of the state of hackers infiltrating the game, and that situation having escalated since the corona outbreak. Since then, we've been in closer contact with BattlEye to ensure that measures are taken both by them and within our game. I will not go into details, as this is a security-topic. But to give you a hint regarding numbers, we have banned more accounts in 2020 so far (and I mean way more), than in the past 4 years combined (also, we are talking 5-figure numbers). So rest assured, that action is being taken, and cheaters are paying the price. Now to the topic of player-reports: With the way we are handling cheat recognition right now, implementing a report system for players would not benefit the situation. In this context you have to consider the time for implementation, the amount of false reports that would come towards us, and the time we would have to spend to run through them. Trust me when I say that we have considered it, and found a better way. Obviously, there wouldn't be this many topics on the forums, if cheaters weren't still an issue in the game. Fighting cheaters is and will always be a continuous effort, with more cheaters appearing the more popular the game becomes, or if they feel challenged to attack a game for other reasons.
Kad790 1 Posted August 28, 2020 There is no reason to not know the username of the person who kills you. Steam has this with Counter Strike for what, 15 years now? It wasn't a problem for them. This little fix would make it possible to report hackers effectively saving this game from it's steady demise.

I appreciate the fast response! If you're talking 5-figure-numbers, that's at minimum 10k players banned, and if they all bought the game during a sale like i did at 25$, that's 250k dollars spent not even including the actual cheat engines. I'm confused as to how cheaters in total spent nearly $300,000 just to hack a few hours, and honestly find it quite hard to believe. Is there any reason for this number to be so ridiculously high? Is it easy to pirate the game and play just like that? Or is the cheater community this game fosters just that determined (and bored from covid) to interrupt your play session and ruin your few hours of progress? I mean, i know cheaters are low, but that's pretty insane.
