TrackIR and DAYZ

Recommended Posts

Have had a trackir4 for a couple years now, it's what honestly got me into ARMA2 when it came out.

I haven't had it plugged in for a while now since I stopped flying so I decided to plug it in and give it a go!

Wow! So much easier to check my surroundings. Don't have to hold alt anymore.

For those who don't know, TrackIR is an IR camera that picks up your head movements and translates them in game. Eg. you turn your head left IRL and in game you look left (like holding alt) http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/

One suggestion I will make is to disable to x,y, and z vectors. Annoying when you are leaned over and trying to run.

Any other Dayz'ers out there using TrackIR? Do you have an easier time driving / sniping / sneaking?

I wasn't using TrackIR, but I was using a homebrew-knockoff that allows the use of a webcam in place of the rig.

My one problem was the vectors as well. Didn't think to turn them off, but I'll have to try it when I get home.

As it was, though, it was interesting. (Aside having to sit completely still in an awkward, upright position.) The reaction was a little slow and syrup-y, but again, that probably has to do with the fact that I'm using a webcam over an actual rig.

I'm assuming you are using freetrack. I set one up before I bought my trackir with only a single vector point and it worked... ok.

Gotta play with the sensativity in that a bit to get a sweet spot.

Trackir has a nice setting called one:one that works pretty well.
