Securing gear, long term?

Recommended Posts

When I watch gameplay some of you guys are carrying so much valuable gear that I find myself wondering if I'd even want that much stuff. Sure it makes survival easier, but my feelings on this game to date - and I've only had it for just over a week - especially on console, is that it's about as stable as a one-legged chair. Every time I log on I'm just hoping my current character loads, let alone any gear I've collected.

So what's the process to securing gear? Stashes? Bases? Using the same server all the time?

You could hop servers yes.

Stashes are the main way to go.

Bury it and interact with the stash every other day.

Like @McWendy said... stashes are the way to go. Not sure if you're playing Livonia or Chernarus, but there's basically two stages to DayZ... getting your basic gear squared away (where you only have to maintain food/water, not hope/find it) and once you get a stash down so on your next spawn you've made getting basic gear much easier. If you run across a barrel or a protective box somewhere, carry it somewhere secluded nearby and use that as your temporary base of operations. Start looking for nails/a saw/etc and a shovel and then you'll be able to start burying crates and having more security in terms of loot.

Or... accept that DayZ giveth and taketh away and be happy with the loot that's on you. I personally feel a bit of relief when I die/respawn because I feel less responsible for the gear on my back.
