Addressing the crashes after the update 1.05

So immediately I noticed there’s no option to manually input the name of the server you want. So every time I want to join my friends server I have to scroll down to page 47. No major problem there but it’s clear that there wasn’t a lot of brainstorming put into the main menu.

The lobby menu is definitely a mess and to be honest, I can see where this wouldn't make a good impression on newcomers.  Hell, I'm still unimpressed with it and I've been playing since release.  Instead of fixing the problems with it and / or making interface more friendly, they add menu music that I end up turning off anyway.

My suggestion would be to use the favorites option where possible.  If you go through the initial hassle to set it up for the servers you frequent, it can be a real time saver so you don't need to scroll through all those pages.

When playing the game itself I’ve found that any length of time over an hour or 2 on a populated server will cause severe FPS drops and a possible blue screen. Closing the app every now and again to refresh fixes this but it shouldn’t be an issue in 2019 on a console that’s been out for 5 years +.
I can’t quite figure out what causes it but I know it’s an issue on pc also where for some reason an item you’re trying to loot from a container/bag/dead player will become bugged out and although it’s showing that it’s there, you can’t do anything with it. The same with players dropping items and the only person that can see it is the player who dropped it. Met a kind chap earlier who tried to give a spare tin opener to me that he had but after 5 minutes of trying different things, he ended up just opening my cans for me because no matter what we tried I could not receive the tin opener. It’s like it with things you drop on the ground for another player. Doesn’t happen all the time though, maybe 50% of the time if that. And my example of this is getting wrecked off spawn by some guy with a shotty about 6-8 times in a row only to finally get him weak enough over my 6-8 lives to knock him out. The shotgun I so desperately wanted after it killed me so many times was there on the floor staring at me. But there was no prompt to do anything whatsoever. And I got my head caved in from behind whilst trying to pick it up. (Pissed isn’t even the word for that) But another issue with this is Ive been constantly spawning at the same place. The only reason this guy killed me so quick every time because I kept downing right next to him.

Inventory screen is an absolute mess. I have slight ocd and it really grinds me when I look and see all these things I can’t stack or organise within there pocket or bag theyre in. Probably doesn’t bother most but for people like me it’s a nightmare. To add to this if you split a stack of something, you can’t re-stack it back up. So there’s a ton of things I can’t loot sometimes because there’s so many duplicates throughout my inventory that it gets to the point where I get somewhere and wish I picked something up a long the way but I couldn’t because of this garbage inventory system.

There are a lot of bugs in this game that have been persistent problems for quite a few of us.  Some you can work around but others you simply can't as they seem to happen at randoms times with triggers that are not necessarily repeatable.  ....some you still have yet to discover that would likely bring your irritation level to the boiling point (e.g. cars).

Relogging will sometimes help some of the problem you mention as will server restarts.  ....the latter especially helping "unstick" items that get stuck in tents, cars, barrels, etc.  Unfortunately, official servers only restart once a day IIRC and community servers will depend on the owner.  I rent my own server so we can actually restart it anytime we like from my phone.  ....which is usually once per session if at all.  We tend to relog 1-5 times depending on how bad other issues are that day.  .....it's not consistent.

Looting in a hurry is non existent. Not like on pc where they can keep moving whilst looting to grab something they really need quickly without being sniped. On console your character stands/lays completely still. Inviting every sniper in the area to scoop your dome clean off in one shot.

This one I have to disagree with you on.

DayZ is a hardcore survival game.  Even some of the more mundane tasks are represented here like reloading magazines in weapons, opening cans to eat (assuming you have the tools to do that), sickness / care, crafting, etc.

These are things that are supposed to represent more "realistic aspects of life / survival.  Now, I agree that some things could be made more user friendly like inventory management, auto stacking, etc., but looting in real life takes time.  Personally, I don't care for the "vacuum" mechanic in some games and would really hate it in DayZ.

In this game, everything you do is a calculated risk.  You really need to consider the risk when searching buildings and such and yes, even looting dead bodies.  You simply don't know who else is out there that may be thinking the same thing or possibly using the opportunity as a trap so they can take what you have.

IMO, this is a the heart of what DayZ is all about.  The unknown, the tension, risk vs. reward.....    The inventory management while not perfect is deeper than most other games simply because that is what DayZ is all about.  Everything needs to be considered in this game down to how you organize your gear.  .....which is something I would always recommend doing often so you don't find yourself coming across a looting opportunity only to have to stand there exposed trying to make things fit.

Another thing I can’t quite believe I’m the only one whose complained about it so far.
Stats. I get you guys are going for the hardcore survival thing but you could at least give us a menu somewhere with the stats there so we can see what’s going on clearer. I lost a lot of blood a few times now and it’s so annoying to just constantly pass out every 30 seconds after I get up. No word of a lie I had to just leave my guy in a building earlier whilst I watched YouTube because for 22 minutes (yes 22 minutes, I counted) my guy just kept passing out every time he got back up again. It’d be nice to have the stat somewhere so I can get a rough estimate of how long I need to stay in cover for. I love the game but if i have to sit there for the best part of half an hour just so my guy doesn’t pass out all the time. I get you’re goin for the hardcore survival thing but Christ there are some things you could help us out with a little.

Well, there are the icons in the lower left hand corner of the screen.  Once you understand how to interpret those, they are really good indicators as to the general health of your character.  Blood loss needs to be stopped immediately. Again, this goes back to the inventory organization and preparedness.

I always make sure I have enough rags on hand and I tie them into a space on my item wheel so they can be applied quickly when needed.  Always check your status icons to make sure you're not bleeding after a fight.  You can bleed out much quicker now so bandaging promptly is more important now than ever.  If you play with a friend, it can really help if they assist as well when needed.  Hospitals will have medicines that can help in these dire situations as well.

Always be mindful of your footwear.  Your shoes will wear out and when they are ruined, your feet will begin to get cut up.  ....again, leading to blood loss if you're not careful.  I always keep an extra pair on hand just in case.  Also, learn to listen to your character.  They will make noises sometimes that can indicate a problem (e.g. sickness, damage / bleeding, etc.).

Your guy steps in a puddle and he soaking wet shivering.

I have to say that's an exaggeration.  You're in danger of becoming hyperthermic in a heavy rain or when you wade for while in water or submerge yourself.  Skipping through puddle or even creeks hardly has an effect if at all.  In either case, keep moving when wet, find shelter in rain or when things are bad, start a fire to help dry yourself off (which is really effective btw).  You can also wring out some of your clothing.

All of these stupid little mechanics take away from what makes the game fun. I’d rather be encountering other people and looting places than waiting to dry or get my blood back. Also why does it take over 2 minutes to drink half of our thirst meter? No joke, 2 whole minutes of sitting there holding square at a well but you can eat a can of food in 3 Seconds? It just adds to the ways which console players can get sniped whilst HAVING to sit still. The Cancel animation on anything is wayyyyy too long. If you get attacked whilst bandaging up then it’s GGs to you and goodbye to your gear you spent hours accumulating. If you guys are so hardcore on survival then why can we not just bolt off running. If I’m drinking water from a well IRL and a zombie approaches me I not going to take the time tend to the well while I finish. No. I’m gonna drop everything and run in the other direction. If I find or think of more I’ll be sure to update.

This wasn’t meant to be aggressive but it kinda reads that way but please just take it all as constructive criticism. I want the game to be the best it can be and I want to play it. Hope this helps.

Containers to store water are usually one of those things at the top of my list.  Your hands simply don't hold a lot of water.  .....and again, there is an element of risk involved in taking on water that way from a well.  This encourages players to find plastic bottles, pots, canteens, etc. and makes them all the more valuable in the game.  I do agree regarding some aspect of the game like being locked into an animation, etc.

however, what you call "stupid little mechanics" are at the heart of this game.  I'm sorry to say but this is what DayZ is all about with its emphasis on hardocre survival.  While some things can and do get streamlined for more simplicity (e.g. dropping items from your hands wa recently reintroduced), I'm afraid to say that the game is only going to get much deeper and "survival-centric" from here.  In other words, the game is going to move further toward these "mechanics" than away from.  Just wait until they bring back broken bones.

I think some new players or those not familiar with DayZ's history get discouraged because they want to gloss over some of the "realism"/survival aspects while playing the game more as a milsim.  DayZ started out as an ARMA mod.  It was based on a milsim game but focuses on survival aspects.

I hope you're able to find aspects of the game you like regardless.  For me, it's the bugs that really get me down.  Once those are addressed I actually hope they bring on more of the survival aspects and other components they removed long ago.
