So sad...

Recommended Posts

I remember back in the day when I first started watching Frankie play dayz on pc, back when it was just a mod. I fell in love with the game and was so impressed by all the mechanics within the mod and adventures that played out. First time I played it was on a laptop and was lagging all over the place but still enjoyed playing it. I have always been a console player and when I first heard that dayz might come to console, I was super excited even though it wouldn't come out on console till a couple years later. Fast forward to 2019, I see dayz on PS store and buy it right away. I didn't care that it was $60, I had to have it....

Now after playing it since release, I've only been able to find an ar and an ak once(searching the whole map over and over) but my character glitched and respawned at coast. Can't drive without crashing(car & game) and get kos more often than not. I find myself not enjoying the game I so desperately wanted to experience. I feel cheated, the game is not worth what I paid for. I know, I should have waited for a price drop but I had waited so long to be able to play that it did not matter.

I should've waited....😢 What a major disappointment and let down.

You have contributed to a continuing development process, my friend. Things will improve. We on PS4 have only gotten two updates. I don't KoS, but the apocalypse is full of blood-thirsty half-wits. I feel for you bud. My first 8 out of 10 deaths were at the hands of other survivors. With each experience, I have gained resolve and wisdom. There are legit players out there, but there's a bunch of folks running scared too. My best advice is to use these opportunities, though they may not seem like opportunities, to improve your patience and alertness.

P.S. I also had my character wiped once, it was tough, but shit happens. Don't get attached to any item or gun. I know it's easier said than done.

Yea console isn't perfect and has alot of issues. But like the person above said it's still new to console But what I hear alot is how there isn't enough top tier guns. This game is not all about having the best guns. It's about survival. Having a shot gun or mossin is enough most of the times.

The problem IMO is that they continue to add content but don't address some of the major issues affecting gameplay like the inventory problems (e.g. items getting stuck in cars, tents, etc.), weapon loading / glitching, weapons becoming suddenly ineffective, lag / freezes while driving, etc.  Bugs that are really irritating at best and game breakers at their worst.

The things is, these core issues persist as they continue to add more content.  Instead of focusing on fixing the problems as they said they would, they continue to build on top of them.  ....sometimes introducing more problems as they go.

I like the game and I'm glad it came to console but I'm really losing faith in BI's word that they were going to get their stuff together. This game is not release ready IMO and shouldn't have been marketed as such.  I took the plunge knowing this since I've been a long time follower of the game.  .....but I also bought into BI's renewed commitment.  That changed when I heard the announcement of the physical copy release and then the paid DLC.

I love the game and want to support it, but I really think BI needs to adjust their priorities.   Their focus should be on fixing and optimizing this game first and then adding more content, selling physical copies, DLCs, etc. later.

It seems they also make the game more difficult by adding new survival features which I would be perfectly fine with and would welcome.   ......if I didn't already have to deal with long standing glitches, some of which have led to my death or the loss of gear / vehicles I spent hours or days searching for, outfitting , etc.

They said they delayed 1.05 for console because they wanted to get it "right".  ......having a hard time seeing what's right about not addressing the core problems with the game though.

I like this game a lot the concept the idea,

But this game on console isn't what I expected, It needs some serious work in I can't imagine it will ever get to a state where it will be great on console until the next generation of console , which is upsetting but On pc it seems to be pretty good with some issues.

Just read an article this morning that Sony confirmed a 2020 holiday release for PS5.  Unfortunately, upgraded hardware won't fix broken code.  😉

Seriously though, I can also see the PS5 definitely helping in some ways with this game.

This is true because even on pc they still have some of the same bugs on a fundamental level, I wish they had a bigger dev team or something.

I'm surprised that Sony honestly hasn't forced them to remove it from the PS Store with all the reported issues.

I actually considered sending them a complaint about it.

I love the game but these guys really need a kick in the butt.  This is not a title that is ready for full release let alone the talk of a physical copy being sold in stores, paid DLC, etc.  For folks like us, we knew what we were getting ourselves into.  I was going to pass but bought into their renewed commitment as I mentioned earlier.  I still didn't think the game was worth $50 but I had expectations improvements to optimization of the game and remaining bugs would be coming on a steady basis.  Instead, we get content updates with bugs of their own and no resolution to the more game-impacting ones that persist.

Anyhow, yeah.....  I was going to see about complaining to Sony but couldn't see where I could do that.

A believe a major factor for console performance issues stems from the fact that both the PS4 and XBOX One have 8GB of DDR Ram memory.  The game is recommended to be run with at least 16!  Hence, PC has far fewer issues.  There is no way to upgrade DDR Ram or GPU for your console.  Solid State Drives help with application loading; their data transfer speed is significantly faster than Hard Disc Drives.  However, an SSD will not improve FPS in DayZ because game assets are server-side and not on your console as with most other games.  The console versions will need to be significantly tweaked to contribute any change to physics of cars, loading textures, and overall CLE processing.

Lol I love the comments people make thinking the game will be fixed or even get better. It's been in this piss poor piece of shit state since the mod! But hey no worries, a paid for dlc map is coming! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

There are fewer issues but they still have issues even some issues get ported to console,

1. like the audio for the sheathe and knife

2. I havent tried but current the Walkie talkie and PA system is bugged if you come in contact with it , it should carry your voice for the rest of your time on and who ever is near you even after you leave it.

3. cars flying and what not

4. inventory bugging / guns bug

5. if you kill a player with a gun in their hand , it occasionally bugs out.

playing as much as I did and watching a guy on pc with like 2k+ hours who plays for like 8 hour sessions, neither is bug free

but pc does have considerable stability but its not like its 100% the hardware, some of it is software related.

The odd part is that only driver sees the car rolling and flying, and eventually ends dead.

Passengers see it normal, like with car freezing issue.
