How to add broken bones back into dayz

Recommended Posts

Hello!

Today I want to talk about how I think the devs should go about readding broken bones into DayZ

  1. First and foremost, the dayz devs need to re-enable the spine hitboxes, and extend those hitboxes into the player's legs
  2. Secondly, the devs should divorce the survivor's walking speed from the global health stat and instead marry the walking speed to only the spine's health stat
  3. Thirdly, the survivor's spine health should be decreased from 100 to at most half of that, if not less.
  4. If the survivor's spine health reaches zero, the spine should not be able to regenerate it's health naturally, and the survivor is forced to go prone
  5. Make splints craftable again
  6. Apply the following changes to splints and morphine injectors:
    1. Splints give a thousandth of a health point to the spine, allowing it to naturally regenerate the spine's health
    2. Morphine gives the spine a boost in how fast it regenerates it's health, allowing the survivor to get back on their feet a lot faster than with a splint

And that's the list of changes that I think would give DayZ it's broken bones back. Thoughts?

That's an interesting system you've come up with, but I think splints being craft-able again and hit registration on arms and legs would suffice.

If you're shot in the arm, some health indicator appears showing a fractured arm, meaning you must now craft and apply a splint before being able to raise your hands again (i.e. can't shoot a gun with a broken arm, can't do any of the gestures, etc).

If you're shot in the leg, some health indicator appears showing a fractured leg and you immediately go prone and remain that way until applying a splint.

There could perhaps be a Monty Python "it's just a flesh wound" chance added as well, such that maybe 33% of the time, a shot to the arm or leg does NOT break the bone and only causes blood loss.  So, if it's your lucky day, you wouldn't need splints, but two good shots from your opponent and you're in serious trouble.

I think they can add the broken bone feature but because of how players usually play by themselves there should be an extremely low chance of a broken bone. People are shot, especially with pistol rounds and they can keep doing things. I don’t think every or most bullets should break bones. Maybe add a hit scan for the skeletal system. I don’t thinks hit scan for the spin is a good idea. If your hit in the spin, your either dead or never walking again. And never walking again sounds dumb for a game, unless they add wheelchairs...lol

i think a reduced walking speed when injured or low in blood is good, regardless of bone status. You can still damage your muscles.
