What's going on?

Yesterday, after maintenance, I could play both vanilla and modded servers fine. But then later in the day, a lot of modded servers started to develop errors, and now I can't get into vanilla either. 

This problem is usually "bad version, server rejected connection", or some variety of pbo error. A lot of people are getting it, and we're doing all the usual checks and reinstalls. This probably explains why so many modded servers are completely empty - no one can get on them. 

The suspicion is that a mod maker has somehow failed to update something, and now we're all screwed. Does anyone have more insight?

true problem, I agree.☹️ Yesterday I lost my character who lived for almost a month. Now the server shows an error. It took a long time to fix it - the result is negative!
