ThePugman 280 Posted July 23, 2019 Watching an old dev blog from Rocket (yes, sad). At 14:15 he talks about the rubbish that is left behind after eating. When did that get scrapped? (pun intended). Also, he goes on to say this could play into tracking mechanics involving dogs, and FINGERPRINTS 😂 Wow, the scope was seriously high for this game! I’ll be honest, I could do without the dogs, and they’d probably be an absolute pain to implement, but being able to fingerprint and ID old tin cans would be fucking awesome. 1.05? 🤞🥺😏
drgullen 597 Posted July 23, 2019 Honestly, I think the rubbish would be better than the fingerprints. Seeing a browning apple corps or an empty cereal box on the ground for example would be enough to show evidence of players. Of course, the players could nullify this by picking up their trash and disposing it in the grass/woods where it's less likely to be found. I dunno about seeing this in 1.05 though -- 2.05 maybe? 😋 1
ThePugman 280 Posted July 24, 2019 Ya. Rubbish itself would be a good start. Any idea why they ditched it? I just thought the idea of using the fingerprint reader and the game telling you the player ID would be cool. Obviously it’s unrealisitic as fuck, and not even suited to DayZ. I kinda wish someone would make a mod of it, though. @drgullen

There's a lot of things to render in DayZ, so maybe they decided rendering the trash wasn't worth the performance hit on the server.
maxon-69 35 Posted July 25, 2019 This feature was back in Dayz origin. Crumpled soda cans. Oh, nostalgia.
