A new players opinion (not that anyone asked for it)

Recommended Posts

I'm a new player to Dayz, just checked my xbox stats and it says I have 1d 8h playtime.

I've followed Dayz for years watching streams and friends play on PC and I know this game is far from perfect but it always has been my goal to play this game. Obvioulsy when it was originally released on Xbox I waited for reviews on the game and as I expected (much like Pubg) another PC game badly ported over, I gave the game a miss expecting it to never be fixed (remembering how long it took for the PC game to be playable) until a few days ago I saw the game was on Sale, I took the plunge and bought it.

See the KOS, I don't mind, the laggy zombies, I don't mind. The fact that in my region (EU) there is only two FPP servers, I don't mind.

It's a survival game, and loot should be scarce I understand that. Even though food, melee weapons and even pistols are fairly easy to come by, AR's on the other hand.

I have yet to see one, even hear one, do they even exist, I have literally ran around the majority of the map, looted next to all of the main military locations, even been alone on a server after it reset, with no prevail. I have every attachment under the sun stashed. I understand about the dupers, and spawn rates, i'm not just blindly stating there are no AR's. But seriously, where the fuck are they, as new player, it's incredibly hard to want to continue to play a game I had so much hope for, sounds like half the community actually want help and the other half are either dupers or too dumb to realise calling out devs won't get them a response.

As a new player, and a fresh outside perspective on this whole thing it sounds like having player locked servers available would be good, would for sure solve a lot of issues. Of course you can't player lock all the servers, if you don't like that play on another server, pretty simple!

Surely the easiest way to stop the dupers and actually bring back the joy of being able to actually find decent weapons would be full server wipes across the board. Yes people will dupe again, yes people will loose everything. But at the end of a day it's a survival game, get to your grind and earn your stuff. Sick of dupers, why not join a player locked server as mentioned above. Then with the non player locked servers surely it'd be easier to spot the dupers?

I'm not saying i'm a game dev, or I have all the answers to the problems, maybe nobody is even going to bother to read this, I just want this game to be enjoyable, you know, I payed money to play a game with a concept I enjoy and I'd love to see it actually playable.

P.s. The dev's lack of communication is clearly upsetting the community, hence all the hostility, but if we stop being dicks and typing mean things then maybe they'd actually give us some useful information rather than 'we're aware and working on it'. Speak to them like you'd like to be spoken to and maybe things might start to change.

Signed, MrBJGreen - one new lonely naked who just wants an AK but is stuck with a can of Spite 😉

You answered your own question.

It's a survival game, it's supposed to be hard. AR's are supposed to be very hard to find. You don't need an AR to survive, try using an SK instead. Don't allow your enjoyment of the game to be determined by the availability of loot; explore and meet new people instead.

In my opinion it's not helpful that new players who are attracted to the game via YouTube and Streamers see those guys running with high-tier weapons at all times. It sets an unrealistic expectation I believe.

In that departement you are dead wrong.

It's the frustration and lack of any communication that makes players and customers and fans upset and down right pissed off.

It's not like BI used to be soooo informative and someone started trash talking and all of the sudden they stopped with info.

No... They never started.

So please stop referring to our attitude and that it's our own fault.

A professional game studio should always be informative, up to date and take care of their loyal fans.

@FJinn

I'm merely saying that I should of encountered at least one AR on my travels, but due to dupers messing up spawn rates that is impossible. And that i'm a new player who will quickly lose interest if the issue isn't resolved. I did answer my own question, I even stated that and said I know the reason.. just seems that nothing is actually being done about the dupers and if something is being done than a lack of communication on the Devs side isn't exactly filling me with faith for the future of this game.

I tried meeting new people but most people just shoot you in the face, naked or not :L

I understand that and i'm aware that across the lifespan of this game PC and Xbox there has been a total lack of communication with the players but I still feel that acting like a bratty child on a forum won't make them listen, maybe they won't ever listen, but if people keep trash talking them then of course they won't tell us anything.

I've played a lot of games where dev's don't talk to the fanbase and a lot where they do all the time, some dev's just don't either have the time or effort to talk to their players, which is wrong, it's like a waiter not asking for your order and just bringing you some random food, you can't please everyone, but in this case it seems they aren't pleasing anyone!

how do i tag somebody in a post? i try'd @bent.toe but not sure if that worked :L

this is not the case

you joined this forum 16 hours ago - But if want to, you can read everything that has been said by all the forum members, the moderators and the devs, going back to  2012

It's all right here if you want to look
this is a good forum to look around, and look INTO, instead of just asking someone to do it for you ..  people will ALSO help if your questions are interesting, or because they like to help a first-timer.. there is a tradition of being NOT unfriendly - but it's good to spend some time finding out what has been said before you say it again.. maybe ?

There is even a NEW PLAYER'S section for new players who want to swap first impressions or ask first-week questions

Since 2012 .. there has been MASSIVELY [MEGA]  "plenty" of communication and discussion on VERY many subjects and topics - take the time to browse around. Bet you cant find anything you can think of that that has not already a thread or ten threads on it. Input on one idea or theme often run to 800 or 1500 comments if you search back.
( I kind of read first, speak later? )

you will find fresh new threads less than a handful of days old  on each of the subjects you mention  AKs,  dupers,  devs,  hoppers, loot,  locked servers, & KOS .. ( also xbox "day/night balance" is still trending right now, check it out).

to tag someone in a post type  @ and immediately (without a space) start typing their name - a drop down list appears under the @ as you type, the more of the name you type, the shorter the list gets.. when you see the player you want click on that name in the list - like this :
