We've had this suggestion multiple times, but it is not something we want to do.

DayZ is based on the concept of permadeath, meaning players shouldn't have any control about their respawn location and have to team up as they would do with any random player. Searching for your friend can be an opportunity, as you can meet other players on the way without being enclosed in only "your group".
