3rdparty 229 Posted July 5, 2012 though i think its a cool idea to have the leaderboard and something recording your kills, i think kill counts should be removed from sight, and only given to you at the end of your life.there wouldnt be a massive universally observable consistantly updating leaderboard in an apocalyptic wasteland, and although im only figuratively speaking, i still think the stats chasing creates a motivation in the game that is somewhat disconnected from the simulation. Specter911 2 Posted July 5, 2012 I agree, here are some points for you to use to support your claim.Being able to wander around with a tally ingame ruins immersion as you know how many you killed aswell as above using it to tell if you killed another player.But being in a world with no kill count, as you wander from town to town killing zombies, you would of lost count of how many you killed, countless people you encountered, most dead from trying to rob you.Not knowing if that person is truly dead, so you double tap.Aswell as maybe in future allowing zombies to play dead to do the same after being non-lethally shot in the body occasionally.I believe rocket also wanted to remove the hunger and let the stomach growls tell you when your hungry, and something similar for thirst.Could remove blood and let the screen saturation tell you, bleeding could have a more obvious effect on your screen, but for these, sometime in the future.But I say zombie tally and player tally have to go, perhaps they can even have an item ingame that you pick up, and it automatically updates your current score from the moment you obtain it, so you still don't know your past, but you will know your future. The suggestions for personal variables (hunger thirst injury) sound good, but for weapons its a bit more tricky. Peeps would probably lose track of how many shots they were firing in real life which i guess would be true of that in DayZ, but knowing what weapon youve equipped is something that would be obvious in real life but not neccessarily in game.Knowing whether your gonna be throwing a bottle or a grenade also would be obvious in reality but not neccessarily in a game deprived of an interface.THe only solution i can think of to this is more animations, so you can physically see whether the pistol is in its holster, whether your holding a grenade in hand or a flare.Maybe a murder is only confirmed when the body is examined.
