So I’d like to play in a small team..questions

Recommended Posts

So I played dayz on pc but I wasn’t very good. I told myself if it came to Xbox one I’d buy it and try it. So for the last few days I been playing and I find it fun and I like being nervous about it. Heck a few times I have spooked myself into running away over a sound I caused on my own.

i have played every video game alone, so how do I get over that with this one because I can see a benefit to playing with other people?

whats a decent way to learn the map? Should I just start somewhere and just spend time going thru each city one at a time wandering?

i have seen one person when I was fresh a few days ago..no one since but I have seen evidence of open doors..where do most people adventure to?

The first thing I'd say is that dayz is still quite buggy in places but don't let it put you off. The game is still highly rewarding. I mostly play solo though I do have a friend I play with occasionally. Each has its pros and cons.

Best way to learn the map is use the izurvive app. It's a really good resource. If you don't have other friends already with the game, try making contact on the game itself. I've met quite a few people in game that I've rolled with for minutes, hours and sometimes days. Obviously be cautious of strangers but generally people I bump into and actually communicate usually turn out ok.

I tend to roll along the coast till I have some basic supplies and then head inland. Its a big map. Once you've learnt roughly where things are is fun to just see where your feet take you. Definitely worth picking up a compass. I tend to pick a landmark in the distance and head towards it until something catches my eye.

I laughed when you said about spooking yourself. When I first started playing I was in a police station and heard footsteps. My heart was racing and I froze in the corner of the room for about twenty minutes till I realised it was a zombie outside.

I would like to start a small group of active players too. Ive been on the LFG post with people(I assume you don’t know what that is) but it’s always temporary you end up playing with these people for like 2 hours then never hear from them again. Im looking for active long term players to create a group with so we can all be geared and make a base or whatever we desire. My GT: Tiga VI  add me only if your active and want to be long term and play almost everyday. Ive been playing for a good while and can teach you about the game also

Fanboy pretty much covered everything very well.

The only other thing I could think of to meet like minded players is to join a DayZ club on Xbox, or post in the recruitment section of the forums. I’ve met some pretty solid guys that way.

You’re welcome to add me if you’d like. I enjoy running with one or two people.

You should familiarize yourself with the coastal towns first, as being able to know where you spawn helps game time tremendously. Also, if you don't have a compass, you can easily determine what is North by keeping the ocean side to your right, and conversely you can determine South by keeping the ocean to your left. Like @DayzDayzFanboy said, communicating in game is key and you're gonna wanna have that mic handy; talking can reduce the chances of you being killed on sight a lot. Most people adventure on the coast and to the main military bases; (NWAF, Tisy, etc.) You're gonna find lesser amount of people generally the further West you go into the map. Running with people is advantageous because "strength in numbers" really rings true in DayZ. If you'd like to run with some people sometimes, I am also down to help. On our free time, we even maintain a public/trade base in Berezino that's open to all friendlies and we get our daily dose of PvP.

I think you quoted the wrong person. Good advice for OP nonetheless.
