So how do I start a game? I hit the connect button and we’ll it stays the same ?

Has your game updated in the past couple of days? And restarted your console? Once you hit play or connect you should get a server screen, scroll thru and then hit A. If you’ve tabbed over to server options on the right it prob won’t connect, just change options like region n stuff so u gotta make sure your on the actual server list to the left of the options using the directional pad.

Sometimes it happens to me too, i have to close the game through 'xbox button', highlight 'dayz' then menu button and finally 'exit game' or 'close game', I can't remember

Are you trying to connect to a server? If so, I notice that if I let the game idle long enough on the title screen for my controller to turn off, it bugs out the "A" button functionality to allow me to connect to any servers (though "A" still functions as it should while choosing options). Restarting the game fixes that every time for me. I hope that helps if it relates to your problem.
