Eyefinity in DayZ doesn't work anymore?

Recommended Posts

Hiya folks..

Haven't played DayZ in maybe a year. I used to run it with eyefinity using three screens. Been getting homesick for Chernaurus lately so wanted to get back on see how things have progressed.

Now though when I load the game I get three screens playing three 1920x1080 versions of the game next to each other instead of one screen at 5760x1080. Can anyone tell me what has happened? lol

I've tried changing the resolution in the dayz.cfg but then the game wont load at all.

Hi.

Similar issue here, as well.

But my Eyefinity became buggy just after the implementation of the new renderer (basically when .60 hit the servers) and I stopped using 5760 triple monitors due to an annoying yellow flickering when in Crossfire Mode with my two R290X cards.

Since I run a single card and get 70+ FPS with high quality settings I have not bothered  to run Eyefinity since. (because that king of framerate needs CFX, on my rig at 5760x1080)

I will try it tomorrow evening and let you know if I have the same issues still. The triple monitor setup was awesome, but I wonder how it will scale since the FOV is fixed to nothing greater than 70 now?

Anyhoo...expect a follow up.

Hi, yes the FOV thing I noticed as well. It's locked then? I'm not imagining it lol. Maybe that is what has stopped us being able to play across three screens?

Although I played Arma3 and it did the same thing first time, then I tried removed the setting for that game in the AMD profiler thing (to see if it was conflicting) and reenabled eyefinity and the next time I loaded Arma3 it was the same, but then I could sort out the resolution in the ingame options and set it to 5760 and it worked properly across three screens. So I'm not sure about if the AMD games programme was doing anything wrong or not?  Arma3 was fixable though.

I'm using an R9 390X. I'll try and have another go tonight after work and see if I can sort it out.

Another thing - when it renders the image three times, duplicated on each screen, the image is really squashed horizontally - like it is trying to render 5760 but instead of portraying it correctly across all screens it squeezes it into 1920 and then duplicates it. Gives me a headache. Menus are obviously squashed as well, but I can see in video settings it shows 'Windowed' in the resolution with no option to change it left or right. It's bonkers.

Hey Man. Sorry about the delay in getting back to you.

I managed to restore full functionality with CFX using the ARMA2 Preset profile in the Radeon DayZ-Specific settings.

I did not have to do anything else, so I hope this will help.

The tree artifacting is fixed as well.

My frames go up only about 5FPS using a single display (but that is usual with this game) but my FPS remains at 60-70 in Eyefinity now that CFX is working properly....so for me this is a huge success. My PFS dropped to 15-20 when in Eyefinity using a single 290X.

Cheers!

Eyefinity needs to be enabled as your desktop and ALSO in your DayZ-specific settings in the Radeon control panel....

Hello that man!
Sorry been a while since I read your comment. I haven't played standalone since last time I tried it still was just running three individual screens instead 'three-as-one' kind of thing.

But I did as you said and arma 3 and arma 2 do now work and the difference is that in those games you have to go back to vid options within the game and tell it to use three up and 5760*1080 res. It works then.
In DayZ it didn't have the option and only says 'windowed' or nothing. And resolution just has 100% and so on. I'll have another look tho next time I fancy giving it a try, might be something I've done or something else.

Anyway I've been playing mod again and it's so good :D Found a good vanilla server UK420 and have been enjoying that. 3 screens work fine on mod.

Cheers
