Infected grabbing players

Hello there,

I had an a game changer idea (probably already mentioned somewhere).

From the beginning of the game, we see players get simply hit by an infected or running next to them without a problem.

It is possible to imagine the infected able to grab the player to slow him down or jumping on a player to plate him on the ground ?

It could work with a chance system, when a zombie spot a player and attack him :

If he is close to him : 60% chances of beeing simply hit causing potential bleeding or fracture, 40% chances of beeing grabbed by the arm and slowed down for a few seconds (animation of player struggling while running slowly).

If he is between 1 and 2 meters away and running fast on you : 60% chances of beeing simply chased, 30% chances of a jumping attack like the one already existing in the game, causing more chances of bleeding or fracture than a normal attack, 10% chances of beeing plated to the ground and stunned for a few seconds (animation of player struggling on the ground).

With this, infected would be really game changing, making mutual aid between players really more interesting. Moreover it would be really realistic and scary.

I think grabbing is hard to animate, but tripping (kicking) and falling is probably much easier to build. When falling, getting back up, picking up your dropped rifle, and starting running again takes time. Time for other infected to catch up and if the player is close encircle the victim. However I want to give the player a fighting chance, so maybe the next getting tackled should be after 1,5 - 2 minutes.

Don't think that it's hard. Just add a contact point with the player and make only the infected animation + add a slow % to the player, which is the main point of them grabbing one
