cthompson011 0 Posted October 24, 2016 Can someone lend me a hand with this I'm completely new to PC gaming I bought this new laptop its not a gaming laptop I got it for College but I was just wondering if anyone who knows what they're talking about could let me know what sort of fps I would be getting from it On very low, low and medium settings. Funkmaster Rick 373 Posted October 24, 2016 Your processor and RAM look up to snuff. Your 940MX, however, I'm less certain of. If Nvidia's numbering system is related to efficiency, then your graphics card is on par with some of the upper-end desktop cards, and you're good to go. But that's an assumption I can't back up; laptops tend to have much shittier cards than desktops, even at the high end. In general, prefer desktops for gaming. As to what FPS to expect, no clue. Off the top of my head, your rig looks very playable. I mean, it's still a Dell (which might as well be a dirty word among gamers), but I'm reasonably certain it'll play well enough to get by. You should have a playable experiene on medium settings on your laptop Edited October 24, 2016 by JBURNS489

emuthreat 2837 Posted October 24, 2016 Are you buying the laptop for school purposes as well, and need the portability, or perhaps do not have room for a desktop. I do play with a few people who use laptops on occasion, and I recall hearing them frequently curse the hardware. If there is any way you can swing your budget into a comparable desktop, you would have much more flexibility for improving your experience in the future. If you can wait until "Cyber Monday" in the US, Nov 28, online retailers will have many remarkable sales on computer components.
