from a loner to another

Recommended Posts

Ok I played the mod for years, recently bought the stand alone. In the mod I was a loner never really bothering with people till they shot at me. That being said I don't rock a mic yet, what's the best way in the standalone to get across your friendly? beside like direct chat...and friendly emotes?

shoot them in the face, that normally makes them pretty peaceful

on a more serious note though:

try to act like meeting another survivor is no big deal, greet them like you would greet a person you walk past on the street
don't do that weird left/right dance most people do to not get shot, it just makes you more suspicious
don't try to flank them, if a guy i meet tries to run past me to get into my blind spot, i raise my gun at him

you can normally run around with your gun in your hands, but under no circumstance raise it into their direction, obviously

sprinting also may sometimes look like you are trying to get the drop on someone

also, don't run screaming at someone "friendly! friendly!" that looks extremely desperate and like a setup

Honesty, I'd just get a mic. In my case the mic on my headset broke for some reason, so now I use the inbuilt mic of an old webcam. Works fine, though it's not the greatest sound quality.

If you stop to type in chat you're liable to get shot. A lot of people also don't trust people who don't talk back - so not having a mic in itself can be seen as hostile in some way.

right, many people also act hostile if you don't answer right away, it makes it seem like you are on teamspeak with other people
