Finally returned

Recommended Posts

I took a break to give the game time to develop a little more as I was a little dissatisfied when I left. Im happy to say that 0.59 has REALLY made me happy. Having the ability to fix up cars and make a small base with tents has brought back a truck load of memories from the mod. However, this update (along with a few slightly annoying bugs) has produced a huge fps issue for me. I know dayz hasn't always had the best performance; however, comparing to how it was a few updates back, I can see a massive drop personally. For instance, at green mountain I used to get 50-70 fps average around the time of 0.54. Now, I have 30 average and 40 at best. Has anyone else experienced this or is it possibly something wrong with my game?

To add, I have tried every corner of config changes and launch parameters to combat this problem, but to no avail.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried turning the settings UP?  What are your peak CPU and GPU temps while running DayZ?

It's also notable that the first couple of experimental iterations of .59 brought a doubling of my framerate while using the newUI.  But after several builds, the framerate seems to have taken a hit; I am back to getting around 30 frames looking horizontally, and 60 when looking at my feet.  I do have Vsync enabled.

Peak CPU temp was 40 C

and gpu was around the same temp (dayz barely touches the gpu from what I know)

NewUI does increase my FPS but it doesn't display my hunger / thirst status and I don't want to restart my game just so I can eat and drink accordingly.

Are most of your settings high or better?  If so, then it is just the quirks of .59, and you'll have to wait like everybody else for moar framez.

I've learned to tolerate using exclusively newUI.  It's kinda like ultra-hardcore mode, relying only on the text ticker to know your condition.  If you remember that your can store five times more calories than water in your body, and keep eating every tuna/sardines you find, as well as drinking plenty of sodas and water, you will be fit for anything.  I feel the current broken status levels are a good offset to being able to loot vertical columns, and switch vehicle parts without tools.

Yes. In prior patches, I found disabling shadows and clouds can improve your fps. Is this still the case? I remember reading somewhere that the game runs better with certain settings maxed. Do you know which settings those are?

I have tried different things with it but right now, all I have changed is GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1;

GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1;

I've noticed an increase in players since 0.59. Full servers can be found all day and night.

The game unfortunately doesn't run much better than that right now. The new UI gives a few more fps but its real clunky compare to the old one so not really worth it. I run everything on high or very high and get about 30 fps in large cities with some slowdowns sometimes. I have seen 5 fps once. I believe it has very much to do with how much items are in the vicinity that the game has to render.

Yes.  Items, particularly persistent items relating to vehicles, have a sharp effect on localized performance.  Try parking four vehicles right next to each other, and then attempt to speed past them all in a Lada.  The results will be terrifying.  Add a couple dozen wheels to the area, and compare.
