Question regarding reloading system

Recommended Posts

I haven't bought this game, yet but I'm considering it since I think Arma 3 is pretty darn great but I'm more into zombies than military stuff atm. Now, I hear that Arma 3 has a reload system where as if you reload a gun where the magazine hasn't been emptied yet the remaining ammo is stored and not magically refilled like in most FPS games, is that right? And if so, does DayZ has this system as well?

Dayz will switch magazines out, so you have one in your weapon with 10 rounds and press 'reload' it will swap a mag from your inventory with the one in your weapon.

Alternatively if it is a weapon without a removable magazine then you by reloading it will top up the rounds until the gun reaches capacity.

Arma 3 and dayz have different reloading systems. In Arma there are only magazines or clips. You can't reload them and they stay on you even if there is two rounds left in them. Once you empty them, they don't go back to inventory.

In dayz you have separate rounds and magazines. You can load and empty magazines, you can have rounds in boxes or lose rounds. You also have weapons with internal magazine so you load lose rounds directly to weapon. In short, there is no 123/300 ammo like in CoD. If you don't have magazine you can't use AKM.
