Dayz freezes when I press my keyboard

Recommended Posts

Hello people from the internet.  First of all, here are my specs :

Windows Vista 32Bits service pack 2

Intel Core 2 Duo CPU  E6750 @ 2.66Ghz

4.00 Go Memory

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460

ASUS P5K motherboard

Logitech G15 keyboard

And here is my problem:

When I play Dayz, whenever I press a key on my keyboard, the game will freeze very hard for about 5 seconds. EVERY time... Then my character moves one meter forward, and the game freezes again.

First I thought it was related to my settings so I tried many different screen resolutions and graphics settings. Almost all of them to be honest.  The game can be on Low/High/Custom , it will always freeze when I press the keyboard.

So I unistalled and reinstalled the game about four times, trying to install it on different disks.

I tried finding the good settings on the CFG file and the User.DayzProfile file, but nothing helps.   So I tried running some CPU/GPU boosting programs, shuting down as many services as I could, but whatever I tried, the game would still freeze when I press the keyboard.

The thing is when I am in-game and i use my mouse to look around, there is no lag or freeze. None at all !   I can 360° as fast as I want, back and forth, up and down,  no issues.

So I tried replacing my "W" key with a button on my mouse and it worked without problem. My character would run straight with no freezes.  I think this is proof the hardware is not the issue.

I've read so many threads on google and it seems I am not alone with this issue ( who looks quite recent ), but everyone says to try some different fix, and none have work for me so far.

Where could the problem be coming from? Please help.

I am attaching a "msinfo32" if it can help.

Maybe something is interfering with your client?

Does the Battleye cmd window stay open with any information? or does it just flash quickly then disappear?

1) If you have Razers booster (or any other booster) installed try uninstalling or disabling it

2) Try disabling your antivirus temporarily and see what happens

Good luck.

Hey,

Battleye cmd comes up and then goes away quickly. I made sure I D/L the latest .dll files.

No Razors booster here. I tried ParkControl and LPManager with no results.

I tried with and without my anti-virus (Avira). I also ran Malwarebytes and cleaned some PUPs.

The issue is still here...

Are you able to play other games without issue?

Have you installed the latest official driver software for your keyboard?

Thx for the reply.

My keyboard drivers are up-to-date as well as my Logitech softwares.

I have about 20 games installed on my PC. Some flight simulator, some Total War, BF3, and many more. Some are demanding, others are not, but all run just fine. No issue with the keyboard other than with DAYZ...

Have you tried uninstalling your keyboard driver completely then removing and reinserting your keyboard?

Also, you say that you managed to find other people suffering from the same (or similar) problem(s) via Google. This is the first that I've heard of the issue. Could you please provide a couple of links?

I'm struggling to determine if this is a problem with DayZ itself or some kind of compatibility issue.

Hi Mos1ey !

First of all, thank you again for helping me through this problem I have.

I did what you said related to the keyboard drivers.  Then I tried the game and it was running smoothly. I was so happy, I jumped on Teamspeak to let my friends know my issue was fixed.

When I returned to the game the keyboard was acting up again...   So I looked into Teamspeak a bit and realised I was using a program called TSNotifier, which is a soft that works like an overlay showing who is in your channel and who is using his microphone.

I turned that off and the game ran smoothly again.  Of course, all that time it was on because I was asking my buddies to help me over Teamspeak and never had issue with it.

When I turn it off, the game works fine. The keyboard drivers are up to date and don't make the game freeze.

I need to play a bit more to make sure the issue will not show up again, but it looks like it's fixed.

Regarding these posts of people having issue when pressing the keyboard like I did, that's what I found:

Will Keep you informed.

Much thanks Mos1ey !

Well I'm glad you figured that out because I wouldn't have guessed that it was a TS3 overlay that was causing the problems in a million years...

Have you tried Overwolf as an alternative? I used to use it with DayZ with no problems.

Me too! I installed / uninstalled the game so many times....

And so many hours reading through so many posts and trying every fix that I could find

The game looks fine now. I was worried I had some broken hardware or something.

Thanks again.

Thanks.

Done.

Hello,

I've been strugling with Dayz and running TS Notifier (v.1.5.5) at the same time for the following reason:

TS Notifier is an overlay for Teamspeak. It displays the name of the person speaking with a microphone.

http://tsnotifier.cfxxl.de/

http://addons.teamspeak.com/directory/addon/overlay/TS-Notifier.html

While using TS Notifier, every time I would press any key on my keyboard, the game would freeze for about 5 seconds.

I replaced some of the keyboard control assignments to my mouse, and the freezes wouldn't happen.  The issue appears only when the keyboard is pressed and TS Notifier is running.

The freezes caused by pressing the keyboard do not happen when TS Notifier is not running.

I updated to v.1.6.0 of TS Notifier  and the Notifier is now crashing when Dayz is launched.

Thank you.
