"decent pc - low fps?"

Recommended Posts

Hey!

I've recently spent £1300 on a Gaming PC.

Here's my specs : http://prntscr.com/8v48q9

I don't know why but I'm running DayZ Mod on like 20-30 FPS! My old PC was only a i5, gtx650, 6gb ram... and I run DayZ on like 40-50 fps, my PC is a lot better yet seems to be running on lower FPS.

I have all the main Graphics settings disabled that causes big fps drops in-game.. Yet i'm still low fps, it's doing my head in, help please.

Unfortunately this is pretty much impossible to diagnose based on the little information given, but are you playing on the same server? Server performance can severely inhibit client performance, it could be that you just connected to a crummy server.

Can you post your actual specs mate? No screenshots, write what your computer contains in as much detail as possible and i'll be happy to take a look for ya.

I'm running at a lower spec system than you (making assumptions from limited system spec that you've listed in screenshot) and i average maybe 20fp, with up to 50 when not looking at cities/regions of complext geometry, and around 17fps when in or looking at cities.

As many other threads have pointed out, (use search function) the game is Work in Progress (WIP) and as such is not currently set up in a way to take advantage of high-end or performance parts like you may have.  Anecdotal evidence of other people with much poorer spec PCs running at higher stable FPS are not uncommon, especially when they have a single core CPU which I believe the game is only able to accomodate (correctly, multithreading is not currently supported to my knowledge).

Give it time, and certainly don't go upgrading your PC for DayZ at this point.

Apart from what is said above me also keep in mind that lowering settings will sometimes decrease fps and not increase it. Mainly because some processes are getting shifted from the GPU to the CPU. Do a search on the forum and you will find loads of info on performance.

There might be a couple of hints here that could help you out a bit: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/224710-performance-issues/
