New Weapons

Recommended Posts

Alright, so I have a weapon that I would like to share and hopefully get added into the game.

I will explain why I like this weapon a lot, and why I think it would make DayZ Standalone so much more interesting. Hope you enjoy :)

Ok, so we have the SCAR-L. The FN Herstal Special Combat Assault Rifle is a weapon used by the LAPD SWAT Team, Germany's counter-terrorist force, the GSG-9, and several other military forces such as the New Zealand army, and the Navy Seals.

The firearm uses a 5.56x45mm NATO round, different from the other SCAR-H, which uses 7.62. (L for Light, H for Heavy)

I think that this gun should be found more commonly in military areas, but can be found in police stations or fire stations if you are lucky.

Anyway, that's it. Thanks for reading this, and please give me feedback :D

This weapon has been suggested many, many times, including in the weapon suggestion thread. Personally I think the SCAR-L would be a poor choice to add to DayZ as it uses 5.56x45 and is very similar in operation and characteristics to the M4A1, meaning that it would basically just be an alternate skin for the M4A1, i.e. a waste of resources IMO.

On the other hand I'd really like to see the SCAR-H added as it fills a new role not filled by any others yet (select fire .308 assault rifle/battle rifle/carbine depending on the configuration), should be common according to the lore (if Operation Arrowhead is to be considered canon, which I think it should but I find many people disagree), and looks pretty badass (much cooler than the SCAR-L IMO).

There are plenty of NATO weapons already, so there is no need to add any more western rifles (or there will more kinds of western military rifles than eastern ones).

I personally liked the scar weapon family in arma 2, but don't see why they should be in chernarus.

A SCAR-l doesn't make much sence especially since you said they'll spawn in fire stations and general military. They could do the SCAR-H as an american battle rifle not used much in us so it'll be extremely rare and the fn fal can spawn general mil and tisy mil base.

If the FN SCAR-H or L is coming it's only sensible as a crash site spawn.

The SCAR-L and M4A1 actually don't share that many mechanical characteristics; the closest similarity they share is a receiver that can accept STANAG magazines. Yeah, both were designed to fulfill the same role but that argument basically nullifies any new 5.56 ARs at all.

The FN FAL is select-fire as well, so the FN SCAR-H doesn't add anything new in that regard, even though it is more believable than the SCAR-L. And if ArmA 2 OA is lore then the SCAR-L was the main rifle of the US Army, so in that case it actually makes more sense.
