Questions about firearms and ammo.

So after about a 6 month hiatus from the game, I'm thinking I might jump back in, even if the infected are temporarily removed. Whenever I played, I generally didn't rely on firearms too often, except for grabbing a Sporter 22 now and then. So I'm wanting to try robbing some people and to do that I'll need some guns, so what I'm wondering is:

 

-Where do guns and ammo spawn the most, aside from the obvious air fields? If I look in towns, what buildings should I generally be searching?

 

-What is usually considered the most efficient automatic weapon in game, and what is the most efficient rifle?

 

Sorry if these questions seem noob-ish, I just have always used either simple guns or no guns at all.

Tent cities are your best bet. Or helicrashes. Helicrashes are relatively easy to find and involve less risk.

Police car wrecks often hold some firearms (such as CR 75 or mp5). Since the wrecks respawn every 3h, they can be a bit tricky to find, but often provide guns

Sks will be easiest "automatic" rifle to find and operate (internal mag). Police wrecks and police stations are a good place to find SMGs and pistols.

For attempting to rob people I would recommend an SMG. Surprise is important for robberies, and whipping an SMG out of your taloon pack when you have no primary on your back is pretty surprising.

All military weapons are efficient. Each weapon has its ups and downs. The most powerful weapon must be the SVD which is the rarest weapon in the game. 7.62x54 should be the best caliber although last time I checked it is very similiar to the 308 with only difference in air friction and etc.. My favourite weapon is the SVD simply because I'm a sniper man but I only held one once.
