Graphical strangeness

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon folks,

I recently installed DayZ (standalone) again, after a long break. And noticed to my horror that my "main menu" is a blur of random colors (mostly blueish/whiteish but others as well), the colors is kinda smeared all over the screen with the text visible, tried to change everything possible in resolution and whatnot to no success.

If I try and start up the game on a random server, the screen is black with sounds.

Cant ALT+TAB because then the computer freezes up (only does this in DayZ btw), all other games works fine, both old games al a DX9 to new games like Witcher 3 and others with DX11-12

Tried to reinstall it, verify cache and so on.

I'm on a rather fresh Win 10 installation running on the following setup:

5920K@stock

R9 390X@stock

16GB@2133

500GB 850 EVO

All latest drivers.

Anyone got any ideas for a solution?

I assume you did not delete your configfiles before reinstalling?

What about your launchparameters in Steam? Are there still any set?

That is correct, I guess it is the .cfgs found in My Documents?

Shouldn't be any unless the game have added them, I've not added any.

Well, the question here is whether you had any .cfg's already existing when you now reinstalled. Try deleting them all and doublecheck that you don't have any launchparameters.

Aye, I'll check it out when I get back home. And update you, old friend ;)

Also check:

 - If cpu is cleaned from dust.

 - If gpu is cleaned from dust.

 - If power supply is super hot or not. If hot, then its broken.

Im suspecting gpu is not cleaned and is heating up and this is making errors. Or.... you have to much overclocked cpu/gpu and becouse of this having the erros.

All my parts aren't even 2 months old, and they're next to no dust on them last I checked (last night).

And neither is overclocked (@stock on GPU/CPU), and power supply is fine, since everything works flawless in every other game.

Step 1: Remove all launch parameters

Step 2: delete cfg

Step 3: restart game and reset all your graphical settings

Step 4: make sure HDR Lighting is set to low NOT very low

This should fix it.

Ok then. Do you have and steam launch parameters ? If yes, deleted them and start the game.

Ok, I fixed it last night, though I accidentaly locked my account here (misstype password).

Anyway the problem were that the .cfg that was created during my installation were broken, and caused the strange trouble.

Getting a memory error everytime I shutdown the game but that is no bother.

Thank you!

I had a problem looking a bit like yours.

On Dayz main menu, the background was all kind of blue-ish colors. I would't see my character.  The character selection screen would not show any text (for the shirts or pants colors for exemple), wouldn't show the player's character and the background would also be blue-ish.

It was fixed by removing "-skipintro" from Steam's launch options.

Removing "-skipintro" also helped Dayz to return quicker to the Main Menu after exiting a game.
