Been away for 6 months, and have some questions about bullet penetration

Recommended Posts

So I took a little vacation for 6 months and now that Im back I've got back into dayz and am having a great time, but I have some questions about bullet penetration. Im hoping the community can help me out here.

I've been in several gunfights, haven't lost yet (knocks on wood), and I've watched some videos on the newer bullet penetration but am left with a few unknowns:

1. Trees, do they block bullets in any way?

2. What surfaces cannot be shot through?

3. What calibers do not seem to work with bullet penetration?

4. Etc..

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Don't think it's anything new actually.  Bullets have penetrated forever.

Trees.  ;)

what about trees?

bullets didn't penetrate small pines at one point, i dunno if that was fixed yet or not.  that has less to do with how penetration functions and more to do with those pines likely being a misclassified object.

I distinctly remember barrack windows being bullet proof. Tree leaves used to be made of kevlar as well.

Now since the tents have risen in popularity, I wonder how and if they interact with bullets.

regular pine leafs haven't been bullet proof since very early in the mod.

barracks windows are still bullet proof.

if you're talking about player tents, as i recall they don't stop bullets.  and they don't even render in past a certain distance.  if you're talking about the tents on the map they have always been penetrable.
