Prisons, fishing and the future

Recommended Posts

Haven't played much since 0.55, but I'm again into it now and have few questions.

Prisons I've checked have basically no loot at all. I haven't yet fully comprehended how the current loot economy works, so is this because prison item spawns are not working how they are supposed to, or is the just stuff looted and won't respawn there? Would prisons be empty in such places as Balota or International airfield too?

Does fishing work again? This one I could figure out myself but being a lazy bugger I am, thought to ask it here first.

Third thing is more a comment than a question. I'm reading that there will be 75 player servers in near future, and already 0.59 will introduce several new vehicles. Big changes, feels like civilization is making it's way to the post apocalyptic borderland, and while I definitely want to drive Sedan in a 75 player server ... I'm still happy I started to play early enough to have experiences in more "primitive" Chernarus.

Loot was removed from the camo buildings/jail due to wall hacks I believe. The prison was bugged too with way too much loot so i am guessing they removed that too for now.

Fishing works perfectly. You can fish carps using the improvised fishing rod in fresh water. Mackerel using the improvised fishing trap (Netting and metal wire combined. Watch out, separate your netting before, as it uses the whole stack instead of just one.) and sardines using the plastic bottle fish trap.

You can cook the mackerel and carps using either the wooden branch, or a cooking pot with some water in it. Somehow you can't "prepare" sardines like you used to.

Is the Mackerel random with the net? As I only got sardines when I did it.

Good to know, I do hope they get that wall hack fixed - me and a buddy got killed by some ahole glitching through walls. I didn't seriously mind if there was an occasional lootsplosion   ...but yeah better if that gets fixed too.

Great! Think I'm gonna start a guy and settle in Skalisty island, be just a fisherman and trade fish for stuff with people who come there, and feed those poor bastuds who happen to occasionally respawn to the island lol. Good that you warned about netting, as it's somethng I might have easily done.

Does fish make you ill like cooked meat currently does in .58?

On 12 carps, I got sick only once, and got "cure" in no time. Be search to pack some charcoal tabs just in case. (Don't get sick, when you have a funny taste in your mouth, use them!)

I think so, but as of now, I only caught mackerel...

Using the plastic bottle fish trap, I only caught sardines (obviously) but can't prep them with any knife, and can't cook them in either a stick, or in a cooking pot with water. Mackerel on the other hand, gets cook as easily as the carp.

Two questions here:

1) How long do you have to wait for mackerel to get trapped? Is it a minute or two like with sardines or several dozens like with the rabbit snare?

2) Are those random boats bound to spawn netting? I found to get mackerel and found several boats today with no netting. Does it automatilly mean they've been looted for it?

1) Only a few minutes like the sardines, at least in my experience.

2) No, they don't always spawn netting. While they may have been looted, there's is a chance they didn't spawn any. Sometimes, it's the opposite and you can find multiple stacks of netting at the same boat.

Edit: Also, the netting fishing trap for the mackerel gets damaged over time, so just use duct tape to repair it.
