Kohlbar 270 Posted September 19, 2015 Hey guys I just acquired an ak74 and I was thinking about taking the buttstock off to make it look more "thug". Only thing holding me back is the potential loss of precision.Does anybody know if Weapon attachments such as the buttstock, handguard, or the condition of the attachments make any difference to the handling of the particular weapon or perhaps some helpful resources on the matter of weapon attachments? Cr4cksh0t 6 Posted September 19, 2015 have you tried firing it?
-Gews- 7443 Posted September 19, 2015 In most situations these things don't matter. You can take off the buttstock and the handguard and it will still have the same accuracy as the SKS or AUG. To put it in perspective, stripped of everything it still has better accuracy than the old AKM or M4 from ArmA 2 / DayZ mod.
Funkmaster Rick 373 Posted September 20, 2015 As far as I know, the only thing these attachments do (aside from some battery-powered scopes and flashlights) is balance your Pimp vs. Thug factor. I like to keep them with their oldschool patterns for the pimp factor, myself.
Bororm 1156 Posted September 20, 2015 m4 attachments matter and do various things.
FrigginTommyNoble 61 Posted September 20, 2015 (edited) The tooltip on the lightweight M4 buttstock says something like "there's a slight impact to dispersion, but makes the weapon easier to handle." I assume that means it will be less accurate at long distances, but you can raise the weapon and/or aim down sights faster. Whether or not those effects are actually hooked up to the weapon system, I couldn't say. But to your point, I would definitely like to see some resource where this kind of info is spelled out in detail, preferably with data to back it up. Funkmaster Rick 373 Posted September 21, 2015 I stand corrected. All hail Lord Wobo and his adherence to the basic precepts of science, but mostly for actually doing the legwork on this sort of research. =)
