loot info

I haven't played since 0.48 so forgive me for the lack of current affairs,

 

 

Couple of questions:

 

  • i am aware of the 12hr rest / 4hr loot spawn - i think thats right ? I am struggling to find typical weapons/ammo up the NWAF. i've been there 8 times in the last 3 days on the same server [persistent i believe - DayzTV public] and it has the same clothes, shoes and hat's there but little to nothing else seems to spawn there, why is this? 
  • Has loot been drastically reduced? - i've circled the map over the course of 3 days on the same server and it 'feels' like there is a reduction in loot - personally i think its a good thing so everyone isnt fully geared. Also i've ate 100's of apples to stay alive :D
  • a few frriends have said loot doesnt spawn in area's players are and it spawns elsewhere? - can anyone shed any light on this?

What i say is basically my observation or my understanding from devs tweets and reports, thus this may not be 100% right:

 

1. Servers restart every 12 Hours now, items do respawn anytime. so the idea is, items have a nominal/minimum/medium/maximum count on a server and if the item reach its minimum number, there is a 50% chance to spawn in any spawn point in the map in any given time and if it reach it's medium loot spawns in priorities, also (not confirmed) i think if loot reach a nominal count it will be force to spawn somewhere and if it reachs it's maximum it won't be respawned anymore. the item's count per server reduces when someone drop something in the map and CLE (Central Loot Economy) will clean it up. (obviously this is how it should work which is not right now due to some clean-up system bugs) also worth nothing to mention that, items in players inventor/tents/barrels/backpacks etc won't count into account for CLE (YET) 

 

2. since you were away from the game for such a long time, you may just not know what spawns where (ofc, item's rarity is control by devs through CLE in real time which mean they can change numbers in CLE without an update, etc..) so for your info, jail houses (AKA camo building) and vehicles with no intractable parts do not spawn loots at all. you can only find civilian guns and pistols in cities. Old Barracks building which had a shower room seems not to spawn any gun to me, only military grade clothing. new barracks building which there is a great number of it at NWAF and military tents seem to spawn any guns with exception of NATO guns. police cars only spawns SMG and Pistols. Heli-crash sites and officer tents do spawn NATO weapons (AUG, M4A1 and AK101) and mags for them. so this is basically the main thing you wanna know in order to find your preferred gun. Also weapons have a 3 day timer before the clean up, so there is a great chance if you can't find a gun, it's because it is somewhere on the ground.

 

3. i can't say for sure, but it seems loot is spawning anywhere regardless of players.

1. basically vahidking is right, but there are problems with persistence and loot respawn. the devs are working on a hotfix but it seems to take some time.

 

worth nothing to mention that, items in players inventor/tents/barrels/backpacks etc won't count into account for CLE (YET)

this is unclear, i have read different statements from the devs (except players inventory). my experience has been that there is massive loot when the servers started or got wiped, but after some time of hoarding especially the military locations got empty. theres an exploit which with players leech the high grade loot, if that is stored on a server it reaches its maximum and stops spawning (imho, not knowing if its right).

 

2. hicks said that the total count of loot hasnt been lowered, but the dispersion has changed. check the changelogs and wobos youtube channel to get a understanding.

 

3. that aint right, ive seen loot spawning in front of me several times. but i guess they are going to change that.

while we don't know if it's bugged or not, but items in tents and back packs should not count due to this quote from eugen.

 

 

 

Each item in persistence binary also carries a lifetime value, Aka the time in seconds it can stay on the ground before expiring. Tents and backpacks/cases have the value greatly increased while other items diminish in matter of hours. Thus the loot caches should only happen with tents/cases/backpacks. While the system cleanes these items, it quickly starts restocking the original spawn points (memory points on buildings). Items in tents/backpacks/player inventories are not part of the calculation!

Loot is a little tricky, and there is quite a deal of chance in it. I run a popular 50 player private server, so no hoppers, there is a big turn around of players and plenty of visits to NWAF. However I ventured there earlier and found 5 SKS's in the tents and plenty of ammo. Of course it's possible the last few people to visit the tents had better guns and didn't need to loot an SKS, but seems unlikely.

There seems to be certain structures that respawn a lot quicker than others. There is one small structure that if you remove everything from, it will refresh the loot within 30 seconds. Creating an almost endless supply of the loot that spawns there (gorka gear, vests, ammo, knifes, boots)

 

I played another private server and in the space of a couple hours had a winchester, magnum (both with plenty of ammo) and suitable clothes and a supply of food without having to go near an army base.

 

I get the impression loot is a lot less messed up on Private hives as less items being transferred into servers from elsewhere. I think people are server hopping a lot on public, and making camps. The guns seem to stay on the ground a lot longer than 3 days, seems to be weeks as items from patch day are still there where I left them without having been touched. So people are making camps and hiding guns in the trees on public, which means no new ones will spawn.

@vahidking - that post is nearly half a year old, if im not mistaken. hicks posted somewhen it wouldnt count, devteam posted different again. idk what to believe. basically its not working properly, so we all can only speculate theoretically.

move inland and eat many apples or grow crops to eat. The loot does not respawn this update but next update will fix this issue.
