Oil Barrel ?

Recommended Posts

So how can you tell if a barrel has water in it and how do you get the water out of it it seems that when I put stuff in my barrel things get damp or wet or is this a bug

It seems that part of the barrels is bugged (putting in/getting out liquid from them).

My stuff gets wet/damp in barrels as well. Don't know if it is a bug, or if it is intended (rusty old barrels).

I am able to store stuff in them, which persists. I have also crafted a few things in them (tanned leather, leather hat, and leather backpack). The lid has to be closed, IIRC, for the crafting to work, though.

If a Barrel is filled with water or fuel, the things you pur inside will get wet.

Edit:I should read exactly. I didnt try to empty out a Barrel yet ^^ Did you try to take it in your hands? Maybe it works like the canteen?

Good catch, I was wondering if eventually it's planned that you could leave one open in the rain and catch fresh water?

I only have "damaged" barrels that I am using right now, so (as mentioned in my post further up) it could be a possibility. I've seen a worn barrel, but I left it where I found it. So, I haven't tested out that hypothesis on any other type of barrel.

Btw, I assume others have noticed that all of the barrels say they have varying amounts of "liquid" in them if you view the inspect popup. For example, "around 72 l". So, the whole filling/draining seems to be bugged. I've also tried pouring liquids into them, or pouring it into another container (i.e. jerry can), but it is always met with an "I can't do that" type of message.

Cooking pots seem to work for containing and removing liquid...

I'd bet it's a bug not a feature like when you put wet or damp clothes in your bag anything else that can gets wet or damp.
