UKA Harrysoon 67 Posted September 1, 2015 Since upgrading to Fragnet, we've had complaints that one of both of our two servers (UKA) don't appear in the server listings, or they take an abnormal amount of time to appear when searching for them. We've advised people to clear filters etc, but still doesn't resolve the issue. One person can see our 1PP server just fine in the server listing, but not our 3PP server. Anyone else have issues with new servers not appearing? Is it just a case of giving the back end time to update fully?

We're having the same problem and our server (while new) is still almost a week old. I noticed three things in particular. 1) Doesn't appear readily in internet / history and can't be put into favorites.2) Can't "refresh" it and it doesn't show server time.3) And it doesn't show the version other than 58.0. This through GamerServers. I've got a ticket in with them and they quickly said "okay, should be fixed try it again" but it's still down. We've tried restarting steam and the server- no joy. Not sure if the trouble is related, a DayZ bug or a bug on their ends... very anxious to get this resolved since I'm quite certain it's impacting our traffic. Yea it's severely impacting our traffic, too. Fragnet are adamant it's not an issue on their end. Only thing I can think of is it takes a considerable amount of time to "propagate" on the server list properly. When I opened my first private server with Vilayer, it was a brand new instance and it struggled to get more than 9 people in on an average day. After close to 2 weeks, it shot up and soon hit number 1 on Gametracker. Issues arose with this server and we had to move to a different server with Vilayer. It was a "second hand" instance, and we filled it the same night. With it being second hand, I don't think we had to do the whole propagation part again. We moved to Fragnet, it was brand new instances again, and it feels like we're still in that first same stage struggling to get numbers in to the server. From what screen are you trying to put it into favourites? If you're on the remote tab it won't display the server information correctly and doesn't allow it to be added to favourites. Find the server through the internet tab, or get a friend to join and then add to favourites from the friend tab.

People are joining your server from the Internet tab so it is white-listed with BI. Max ping defaults to 100, try changing it to 500, and the server should appear. I've noticed a few servers, including my own, have a ping spike over 100 every so often which will make it not appear to those with the default filters. In terms of why it's still got low numbers, it's most likely got low numbers because it has low numbers. The vast majority of people playing DayZ filter the servers by number of players, and server type, and then join a server with more than 40 out of 50 players in it. They'll then add these busy servers to favourites, or check their own history for them to go back to. Once you hit 50/50 for a couple nights running, you'll be in enough peoples favourite/history list to stay popular. We all like to think people play on our servers because we're great admins, or we run a good server, but to be honest this isn't the case. Even with a name like UK Alliance I'd still imagine your volume of British players is no more than 20% when you're full. The vast majority of your players in the past will have had no engagement with your community and most likely won't have remembered your server name once it dropped off their favourites at IP change, or paid any attention to any messages about an IP change that you put in server messages. Your 3pp server has 50 slots, so will more than likely will once again reach the top 10 servers on Gametracker at some point, it just takes one busy weekend. The gametracker rankings are calculated over a running 7 day period based on how many people have consistently been logged on. The top servers on Gametracker are not a measure of quality, they are really just a measure of which servers have Asians keeping them populated at night and therefore have a higher average player count :P

We've had issues with people saying they simply can't see the server(s) in the server listings though. They can set the ping filter to 0 (no limit), and search UKA and the 1PP server will appear, but 3PP is nowhere to be seen.
