Shooting people feels terrible

Hey guys! How are you all?

Welp, I was playing today on experimental... I had a magnum in my hand and I wanted so bad to blow someones head off, so I wandered a bit, then found someone! I shoot the bastard one, two, tree... six times and he run like mad man. Slippery bastard took cover, I thought he was wounded bandaging or something, chased him, but then out of the fucking nowhere PEWPEPWPEPWPEP I'm dead, don't even know where them shoots came from. Very well played lol

 

The point is: I shoot the bastard 6 times and I have absolutely no idea if I managed to score a hit or not. In other experiences, where I was sure that I did land a shoot in my victim, I realized that this game either doesn't have flinch at all, or its so bad that its unnoticeable, also blood effects doesn't help a bit. I think we need more visual clues, if I hit someone, he should flinch in my opinion. Survivors looks literally like NOD cyborgs from Command & Conquer lol. The guy today was relatively close to me, maybe 25-30 meters when I opened fire I think, I do believe I did hit him at least once, but I don't know!

 

Flinch, plus some nice blood effects would be nice tbh, at the moment shooting someone and shooting a wooden board feels exactly the same. What you think?

 

In other note, how accurate is the magnum revolver? Seriously I though I was aiming to his head but it seems like not, then I aimed to his chest region but fuck, I don't know if I did score the hit lol. How does spread patterns work in DayZ? Does the bullet goes exactly where the gun is pointed (I did use the iron sight, not the crosshair) or am I missing some kind of sorcery here

well, i found it always pretty funny in the mod to shoot people in the legs when they are chased by zombies...

A small flinch would be nice, if you look carefully you can usually see them start bleeding. If it is anything like ARMA3's flinches i would die it looks terrible how exaggerated it is in ARMA3.

The person you shot, was he a fresh spawn or did he have gear? The reason I ask isn't to give you shit for shooting freshies but if he had a jacket or a vest on with items in them, he may have been able to take a few shots to the body.

so much for knock down power huh. I wish the guns were more authentic in terms of damage they are nasty but even if your wearing a coat you get hit with a .357 theres gonna be a hole the size of a fuckin softball or bigger come on.

yeah, the whole "normal clothing protecting from 7.62x51mm rounds" thing is really weird, will never know why they decided to do that

 

also a single bullet ruining clothing is kinda odd

I do agree tbh, in my opinion shooting things in DayZ has poor response to the player, especially shooting other players.

He had gear man, a big green waterproof backpack, I guess he also had those military vests and possibly a helmet as well but I don't know if military or skate helmet. Oh also, a goddamn submachinegun lol

does damage to items still go from top to bottom for the inside items ? I still have "trash" items in first slots. Like sticks and rags.

Tough break, gear would've been good to get. That's how dayz is some days, 2 shots from a .22 and you're down and then some days 6 shots from a .357 and only a bit grey with ruined gear. I agree with gannon46 though, we need a better bullet damage model

Yeah, guy seemed like a loot piñata in my eyes lol. I really don't know if any of my 6 shots landed on him, I could have missed all of them!

I will never know I guess..

The SA feels really floaty.  Between the desync/sliding/lag/everything, players just don't feel solid and shooting them even less so.  I'm pretty sure the mod had a sound effect for when you actually hit some one, and the blood effects were a lot more exaggerated (but better imo).

 

I hope they can do something about it, because it does feel bad.  And as some one else mentioned I also hope it doesn't end up like arma 3 though because that is even worse.
