Vanilla Launcher Opens Steam When Clicking Join Server

I downloaded and installed the Vanilla dayzmod, then installed both copies of ARMA2 and AO

 

I set the past for both ARMA2 and AO to the "ARMA2" folder.

 

When I select a server and click join, it opens Operation Arrowhead in Steam?

 

Whats wrong?

Nothing I would think, steam is the accepted way to play dayz mod now, the launcher serves to remove all the overshyte servers from the browser

 

good thing you don't have a vac ban or something cause that would cause problems right?

Both of my ARMA2 copies I got from a store (physical copies) not from Steam.

 

Can that be the problem?

ArmA (and DayZ Mod) moved to Steam when Gamespy shutdown over a year ago. Those with retail copies can transfer Arma 2, and all of its DLCs and expansions, by adding their CD Key to Steam's Product Activation.

Do I have to download them or just copy the files to the steam game folder?
