I KNOW you're an exploiter if you disagree

Recommended Posts

Before I say anything else, I just want to admit that I have been using this "exploit" at several ocassions. It comes quite "in handy" at times, but it's not something I really like to do, and if there's ever going to be a timer, I'd welcome it and shut up.

I totally agree with you, despite being what you would call an "exploiter". That's all.

That must be the most idiotic way of saying "bullshit" while trying to sound smart I've ever seen.

Uh-huh. And how does that make you feel?

That comment from Rocket you used is out of context. He wasn't talking about people disconnecting, he was talking about the whole moral system Bandit/survivor thing.

Stopping people disconnecting to avoid death will be addressed.

I don't see what the issue is.

This is a game, and like the show Caprica, you can always disconnect right before death IF YOU CAN ANTICIPATE IT.

I have no qualms about escaping the death of a character that I've worked on for days, or even weeks.

I also don't care if other people do it to save themselves; to be honest I feel like if you can make it out alive, the other person really didn't have a shot in the first place. If two people keep going at it in a firefight, then both people want to engage. However, why prevent players who wish to avoid being stalked or had a bad day, or a bad moment, whatever it may be, from escaping if they have a chance?

There is currently NO GUARANTEE that you will avoid death if you get shot, because you still may be bleeding and not be able to be saved.

That said, I am a player who sometimes kills for sport, and I do disconnect to avoid death, and as it should be. The game is terrifying and stressful already, preventing a person from having to go in the moment (life sometimes calls out of no-where) makes the game just ridiculously frustrating.

It is a game, isn't it? Should it really be THIS frustrating that we can't at least TRY to escape during a supremely dire situation?

Go play a single player game, you're clearly not cut out for a PvP multiplayer game.

Yes it's frustrating being killed when you've spent ages collecting good gear but that's also part of the game. It's supposed to be risky. Quiting out because you think your about to lose a fight is cheating, plain and simple. Rocket has already said that he considers this cheating (not meta-gaming) and it will be dealt with fairly soon.

So enjoy hoarding your stuff and running away from danger while you can because your way of playing will soon be a thing of the past and DayZ will be a better game for it.

Ignores entire thread, only reads topic. States disagrees. Gets called an exploiter.

:V

It'll be interesting to see what rocket comes up with in the future, or if he can fix the five second log-out.

I think a logout timer of at least 30 seconds is perfect. I've seen it used in a few MMO's that have pvp to battle the exact same problem, and it worked like a charm.

As for opposing this because of unwanted disconnects due to bad internet and then possibly dieing because of it. I don't think it's not a legitimate concern. It would be a problem indeed, but it would still be a very small issue compared to what the current ALT-F4 situation is.

So if we can turn a game breaking problem into merely a small issue (which you can improve yourself) any sane person should support it.

I however have no problems killing people in less than 5seconds... although would be good to see the people who gear up by server hopping after DCing buildings they flood with zombies and snatching loot.

Tell me about how this will be fair for people who lose power?

I've had 1 power cut in the last decade' date=' are you seriously suggesting that's an issue for a large number of players?

[/quote']

Yes, it's called the entire state of Florida. Hurricanes and Wet Season thunderstorms fuck our shit.

So you're suggesting DayZ let exploiters ruin the game for 100% of players because you won't buy a backup genetor or because you get maybe 3 or 4 power cuts a year that have an outside chance of kicking you while you're raiding a barn in berezino?

Get real son, this post has exploiter written all over it.

These arguments about power cuts and hamster powered internet connections are franky hilarious.

I don't know where in Florida this other guy is, but here in Tampa it's more like 3-4 power outages per thunder storm, not per year. Say... Maybe one bad thunderstorm a week or two.

I'm not going to buy a backup generator like you suggest. The power going out isn't for an extended period of time, just for a few seconds to a minute. Battery backup is fine. However not everything is on battery and even though the PC stays on, everything else shuts off.

But... I'd rather stay logged in for 30 seconds after getting disconnected due to power and actually get some more kills when people quit out than not have something like this in place.

I'd be fine with a disconnect timer and i have crappy thunderstorms here.

Easy.

Aggression timers.

Just learn from the only other open-world, sandbox, PVP-anywhere game that exists.

Aggression timers, people. If you fire your gun at-fucking-all, you start an aggression timer. Let's say it's 30 seconds. If you fire it and you hit another player, let's say it's ten minutes. Then, you'll have to wait out the timer before you can log out.
