Etherimp 1323 Posted July 19, 2015 (edited) Recently I have been in a LOT of fire-fights, and probably 2-3 of those fire fights I've experienced some serious "lag" while firing or while someone was firing at me. This usually comes in the form of the screen freezing for a brief moment, or for several moments, which basically renders me helpless and completely fucks up my aim/recoil control/movement. So.. My question is.. Is this something everyone experiences or is it something I can do stuff about on my end? An example of what I'm talking about: https://youtu.be/jzuUCITToNc?t=3m57s You can see, after the guy comes around the tree and I turn to the right, my screen froze for several seconds.. really bad frame loss. I'm not sure if this is a frame-rate related issue and it can be addressed or if it's something everyone is getting and it's caused by a memory leak or something. Also, whenever someone enters my network bubble, I get a similar type of "freezing" for a moment. In fact it's to the point now where I know when someone is within 1km of me, and I'll say it to my friend "there's someone around here".. Sure enough, almost every time, there's a player nearby. Again, is this something everyone is experiencing? Edited July 19, 2015 by Etherimp
freethink 984 Posted July 19, 2015 (edited) yep close quarters is a disaster. bit of distance between you and the target and it's fine but anything under 25m is a disaster edit: i'm talking about stable specifically Edited July 19, 2015 by freethink

Maybe for a few minutes. Either way, on experimental I get it. It really bothers me so I was wondering if I could do anything about it, but if everyone gets it I don't want to waste my time doing a bunch of junk to my computer and testing various things just to have no success either way. I just don't get into the same amount of gunfights in exp to judge it but I think it's pretty much accepted that at close quarters combat is a crap shoot atm in dayz. The freeze part is a different thing and may or may not be related. I haven't had a freeze in combat like that, I've had plenty of sudden frame drops to single figures but not necessarily in combat. I'm honestly not sure, All I know is I avoid close quarters comber.
sachad 1016 Posted July 19, 2015 Shotguns solve that problem quite handily. The very first Izh-43 I find always gets chopped and tucked in my backpack or vest if there's room, and I always keep it in hand when moving through city streets and buildings. Anything bumps into me, I just click twice and it's gone! For better results, drag your crosshairs across your targets to widen the spread and ensure maximum killingness! Yeah, see, that's the thing.. I just had an encounter yesterday where I had a sawed off, and I am a master with that that.. I mean, I went on a month long tear where I was just using the Mosin w/ LRS, and Sawed off Shotgun for when I got close.. I tore through everyone with it. This encounter, however, as soon as I came around the corner and the guy started firing at me, I got massive frame drops and my game stuttered like crazy.. I fired the shotgun but god knows where the shots went, as I lost control of my crosshair during the lag.. Then I died shortly after.
Grimey Rick 3417 Posted July 20, 2015 I haven't noticed this on my end. I just mowed through a guy with my MP5-K earlier in CQC. I do, however, try to avoid CQC as much as possible as it's a fucking train wreck in general.
sachad 1016 Posted July 20, 2015 I always fire both barrels at once with a bit of spread, so long as the guy's roughly in front of you, he'll die. It's not a 100% success rate, but close enough. His stuff will most likely be ruined, but hey, so is he Back in the .40s builds, I ran into some super laggy CQC. Guy pops around the corner, framerate drops to less than one as I fire, the screen freezes for an instant, and when it recovers, the guy was dead on the ground. I didn't even see him get hit. One second he's on his feet, the next he's on the floor with a bunch of pellets stuck between his teeth. This really only works with the sawn-off though. Any other weapon, fugeddaboudit. And if you run into another guy with a sawn-off, then it gets really messy.
frosti 2165 Posted July 20, 2015 I got it too. When someone enters my netwrok bubble I always got this specific freeze/lag/frame loss, so I always know when someone is within 1km from me.And when I start shooting in the close distance at someone I often got the same thing with sudden frame loss. I believe it is too slow CPU to calculate sudden network bubble info exchange or something.
Reg Park 160 Posted July 20, 2015 i experience some frame drop too during CQC, but location also plays a role. if im in big cities, it obviously will be worse.CQC can be be quite awkward at times.
